Haemoragic stroke?

Hi
I wonder if any of you have any experience - good and bad - of this?
My 38 year old bil had a stroke on weds.
Then transferred to another hospital after a bleed on the brain :(
He does seem to be improving, thank god, but I want to know what sort of long term effects he may have.
It has affected his right side, and at first he had very disordered speech...he can understand us but he was talking gobbledygook.
He does seem to be able to say some things now that we can understand, Nd they are hoping to transfer him back to the stroke ward at our local hospital on Monday.
It's been such a shock...he had sky high blood pressure and glucose...could this be the reason for the stroke?

Sorry to hear your news

Stroke is a heart attack in the brain so the same risk factors apply. High blood pressure being one of them, drinking smoking and obesity being the others

Hope he makes a swift recovery

Well he ticks 2 of those boxes! :(
He seems to be improving, thank you

Ohflippity a stroke is not a heart attack in the brain, This stroke was a haemoragic stroke- that is a bleed. The other sort is when there is a blockage- so that is similar to a heart attack. The treatments are different- the first needs the blood to coagulate, the 2nd needs clots busting.

My DH had a subarachnoid haemorrhage in Nov. Not to put too fine a point on it, the fact that your BIL is alive is the first plus point. Short and long term effects are many and varied. My DH was left with double vision and a permanent headache. He was very lucky.

Your BIls recovery will take a long time and there will be ups and downs on the way, but this will be supported by the medical teams dealing with him. He isn't out of the woods yet, but every day is a step towards recovery. Best wishes for him.
