"Funny turn" - any ideas what this was?

Had a fairly busy day yesterday (for a Sunday), looking after kids, out and about in the afternoon and a bit of gardening, made the dinner, bedtime, tidying up etc. Finally sat down at about half 9 with a glass of wine and within about 10 mins I felt really weird. Nausea, itchy palms, my face getting increasingly hot, shallow breathing. I went to the bathroom in case I was going to throw up but never did - the weirdness subsided after about another 10 mins, face still really red and hot but I got some fresh air and it returned to normal too. Needless to say I chucked the wine and sipped some water instead!

Any ideas what this was? I've experienced it before a handful of times but not for a few years. Anybody had anything similar or know what it could be other than a random 'funny turn'?

It really sounds like an allergy. I would tell your GP and ask for a patch test, as next time you might have a bigger reaction, so you may need to carry an Epi-pen etc. Also it would be helpful to know just what you reacted to.

Wine allergy?? NOOOOOOOO!!

No, it's definitely not the wine (she says desperately) - extensive previous research has never resulted in this reaction Wink and tbh I'd hardly touched it as I was feeling a bit off, even when i sat down. And I'd had some earlier in the evening with dinner, with no ill effects.

As for allergy, I hadn't eaten or been exposed to anything particularly new, that I can think of. And wouldn't an allergic reaction last a bit longer than a quick 15 minute-ish funny turn?

Alergic reaction to something youve touched while gardening perhaps? Perhaps arrange a dr's appointment or speak to a pharmacist hun x

Hm, I used gardening gloves, and it was much earlier in the day. I'm not ruling out any suggestions, I'm grateful for all ideas, just trying to figure out the probability of these things IYKWIM?

Could it be a blood sugar/blood pressure sort of thing do you think?

I sometimes get these if I haven't eaten properly and have had a busy day, like a blood sugar thing, I get like an itch all inside my body, like a wave and then incredible tiredness in the body. Then it passes as quick as it came. Deffo not wine allergyWink

Oh crumbs, hot flush? You don't normally feel like throwing up with a hot flush do you? I'm late thirties but DM had early menopause so I'm half expecting it myself any day... it could be a hormonal thing of some kind maybe? IIRC the last time I had these it was between DD1 and DD2 - can't remember if I was taking any contraception at the time (I'm not on anything just now) - it may have been at a time when I was coming off the pill? In any case they disappeared after I had DD2 - until now anyway. That's about 5 years ago.

hmm. I could tick a lot of these boxes. But they're quite general - it could be coincidence?
