Hello, has anybody experienced hip displacia and baby wearing a spica cast? I have questions about equipment and where to get special pram from. Wondered if there are any knowledgable mums out there....

I was born with CDH and had my operations at 2.5, traction and full cast and all that jazz. my parents found the charity "steps" hugely helpful - they are national but with local branches, and helped with advice and to source loads of equipment. They are on Facebook!

Also normal car seat.

Yes steps are fab. My dd was 22 months when she was in a hip spica. It was over 10 years ago so I don't have any up to date info on equipment but I'd be happy to answer any other questions of you have any.

Friend of dd's used Steps - amazing. Local person was there for support and visits, equipment was available to borrow. It was really amazing

Great endorsement for Steps. Thank you all.

Hi there, just de-lurking to say good luck with the spica, hope you have no trouble with normal buggy & car seat. Hopefully your little one will cope with it well. I have CDH & was diagnosed in the days when parents were instructed to 'double-diaper' for clicky hips. Had my mother been offered the spica or a harness, I would not had needed skin traction at age 14 & looking at double hip replacement age 30.
