My son aged three has Tricuspid incompetence and Pulminary Sten. Not worried at all about him in the slightest he has had a baloon etc.
I just wanted to know if anyones child with this seemed to get out of breath, get hotter, a lot quicker than siblings. Is it just his set up, or could it be connected.

Hi ff - my dd is 10 and has a different defect - ALCAPA, mitral and tricuspid incompetence, pulmonary regurg and pulmonary artery stenosis. My dd does get breathless and hotter quicker than others. She doesn't cope well with extremes of temp at all. Is this a recent thing with your ds. Can the pulmonary stenosis reoccur? Some times I've found that they just push themselves more - testing the boundaries and seeing how they feel and also a growth spurt can add extra strain.

I wouldn't want to drag you away from the lovely mumsnetters, but have you ever posted on the Heartline message board? They are a really mixed bag and usually have loads of advice.

Thanks Luckymum, no i haven't posted there before.I will have a look. It is a recent thing, just noticed now as he's getting a bit wilder. Also its a bit warmer, he seems to sweat a lot too. I find him trying to regain his breath, not in a really unhealthy way, just as if he's done a heavy work out.
I wouldn't think twice about it apart from comparing him with his brother, do you think he needs a check up?
It can all reoccur, it depends on how he grows.
Hope your daughter is doing well.

FF, when dd1 was born she had an atrial septal defect and a pulomnary stenosis. Hers is resolved now, barring a slight murmur, but she did sweat a lot, and get hotter quicker, sometimes getting breathless. I was told it was all related to the defects, but she isn't like that any more.

Hi ff, she's fine at the moment, thanks for asking. We're just waiting on the results of an exercise tolerance test.

Do you have a cardiac liasion nurse you could speak to if you're bothered about your ds? She would be able to set your mind at rest or arrange for him to be seen. Does he take any meds?

I have an emergency no. direct to Pendlebury childrens hospital, perhaps i should book an appointment. I stop myself because i try my best to ignore it, don't really want to turn neurotic.
No medication though at the moment.
Thanks Lou and Luckymum
