Mirena Fitting On Wednesday-Advice Please

I am having a mirena fitted on Wednesday morning - I have a really active stressy job as a nurse- will I feel ok to run my shift ?
How have other people felt after their fitting?

Just to give a more positive experience, I had one fitted a few months ago, and it really was fine. (I'm mid 40s, two DC, fwiw) Took ibuprofen an hour or so before, had a couple of brief twinges during the insertion process, and a little cramping for a few hours afterwards, but nothing to stop me going about my day as normal - e.g., walked home from the doctor's surgery, walked the dog later that day - and no major after effects apart from spotty bleeding. Very happy with it so far.

How did it go op ? Hope all is well Thanks

I took paracetamol and ibuprofen before hand. It was mildly uncomfortable during fitting and cramping for about half hour afterwards but then felt fine and I was ok to go back to work for rest of my shift ( as a nurse too actually!) but everyone reacts differently to having it fitted and if you have a days leave left to take you to mind using go for it just in case! It's been great since it's been in and glad I went for itSmile

Blessed I am an nhs manager and I would consider this sick leave

I recently had a smear, a mirina coil removed and a new one put in. I had a co-codimol an hour before I went and I swear to god I didn't feel a thing. I thought the dr had finished doing my smear when infact she'd finished it all.
i would also add that it helps to relax and concentrate on your breathing.
good luck

I'm also thinking you could probably take it as a sick day rather than annual leave surely being as you will be attending a medical appointment?
