Ovestin and atrophic vaginitis

Just wondered if someone could stop me panicking. Have been on Ovestin on the off for quite sometime now. Finished the last course at the end of November and the GP advised me to have a break for a while. In between I bought a new product called Canesintima which is a moisturiser. They say apply with fingers (sorry if TMI) but as I had a selection of the syringes I used for Ovestin I used this. Was a bit sore this morning (early) and thought I would use the moisturiser. It was really painful to insert with the syringe thingy and afterwards I noticed pale pink blood on the loo paper. Nothing since though. Cant get a GP appointment until next week and as it was just a one off. I'm trying to convince myself it was because of the soreness. Just wondered if anyone could offer any reassurance.

You don't need a break from topical oestrogen, your doctor is not up to date on current guidelines. It is not a curable condition, it has to be managed.
If you have been not using it for a few weeks you have probably got very sore and this could be the cause of the spotting. If you are in the perimenopause stage spotting is also common. If you have not had a period for a year or more than your doctor may want it investigsted,
www.menopausematters.co.uk is a very good site for info.
Lotions and potions won't sort out you VA so insist on another prescription for the Ovestin or you could try Vagifem.
