Dh had his snip today - and would like it noted that he has been a VERY brave soldier. He has, actually, bless him. Would like to hear about recovery rates on average, barring getting an infection (but if so, how common is it, as loads of blokes I know have said they got one afterwards). Is tomorrow likely to be the worst day for him? He's taking brufen and paracetomol at the moment and he said it doesn't seem too bad; it's just 'pulling a bit' and feels like his balls are full (sorry if tmi!)

don't want to be doom and gloom but DP bumped into a friend who'd had one and couldn't ride his bicycle for two weeks!

My DH was a HUGE baby and spent days 2-7 post op lying down and on permanent pain killers.
Having said that, his incision opened up so you could see inside his scrotum!(imagine making a hole in a satsuma and being able to see the fruit rolling around inside the skin, well I could see his fruit!) Scary, but he refused to get it looked at and consequently spend a month steri-stripping his balls together. I'm sure if he'd gone back it would have been sorted in a minute with a stitch .He actually contemplated super glue at one point, until I bollocked (lol) him and said I couldn't cope with the humilliation of his inquest being in the paper (after he'd died of scepticaemia) saying he'd superglued his 'nads together. Make him rest and wear supportive undies for a bit, and keep sneaking a peak at it coz they never tell you what's going on incase you make them go back!

God that's made me larf 2ndtime! I've just sat here and eaten 2 satsumas before I read your post... don't think i'll be eating many more now though

I said to dh on the way back from the hospital that we could go on a bike ride today - and pony-trekking tomorrow. Poor bugger... but so far so good and he's still being very 'good'. Even put the kids to bed himself tonight (it's his usual job but didn't feel well enough Monday night, understandably).

The wounds seem ok - you can hardly even see one of them and he gave them a wash today in plain water. He says he feels a bit cheated as he was expecting it to be more painful! Also, love the way a lot of my friends have texted or rung to ask after him but it's veen eerily silent as far as his mates go... I think they're frightened in case it's catching, the big wusses!

My dh had his on a Friday and I insisted that he stayed in bed all weekend, taking painkillers every four hours and being waited on hand and foot by yours truly.
Not because I'm a nice person but because it had taken him about five years actually to be brave enough to have the op after hearing all the horror stories from his pals.
He was fine(ish) by Monday. Bit bruised and sore and swollen (this lasted about a week)but certainly well enought to go to work.

Tortington · 24/10/2006 22:32

about a week. then its just superficial bruising ( depending on whether he had a man hating woman doctor who juggled with his balls or not)

2ndtime · 25/10/2006 08:14

Hey custy I never thought of that. DH said his doc was a stunning blonde Eastern European! He maybe just never picked up that she was also a man hater as he was too busy peering down her cleavage when she was twisting his balls round and round. HA,HA !LOL.

Hi, My Dh had it done this May, it was on a Saturday, and the next day just about managed to go to my best friends wedding !! He took painkillers for 2 days.

After a week it was completely fine, no more funny walks !
Hope he has a good recovery
