I know it could be anything but worried about my son who is 21. he had developed a couple of a abscesses but with penicillin they have gone. wondering what the tests could be ?

I'm not a medic but do know that sometimes recurrent abscesses can be an indication of raised blood sugar levels. Was this one of the tests do you know? If so it maybe that his levels were slightly higher than normal and need to be checked again.

don't know if that was one of the tests, they were horrific though and large thankfully gone now.

It seems to be standard practice here now. If you have blood tests you have to go in to discuss the results, even if they haven't shown up anything. I know several people who have been panicked like you, but either everything was fine, or something very minor needed treating.

I'm a GP and will call people in routinely to discuss blood tests when I'm not remotely worried. Generally want to check the illness has resolved if bloods show low level of infection, low iron levels or dehydration etc. I'm always aware it causes worry but the alternative is try to ring the patient directly, they invariably miss the call, panic because I've rang, we spend the next few days trying to get hold of each other as I'm in surgery, patient at work and I can't leave much of a message due to confidentiality.
I wouldn't worry too much.
