Tennis Elbow

I was diagnosed with tennis elbow last week after a lot of pain in it which hadn't eased.

Been trying paracetamol with voltarol gel on my elbow. But nothing is working to relieve the pain. Can anyone suggest anything?

It's a tricky one because unless you stay in bed it's virtually impossible not to use your right arm (I am assuming that it is affecting your right arm and you are right-handed).
I've had acupuncture for it and I thnk it has helped, but it hasn't gone away. I find the most painful movement is raising my hand to my mouth such as cleaning my teeth or lifting a glass to drink.
Poor you - it's a painful affliction.

I keep forgetting and it's hurting more. Think I may have to take the physio offer. I never dreamed how hard things could be Sad. Sorry to hear you are affected.

I was diagnosed mid last year and it took around 5 months for recovery - still get twinges now. Physio should help. Also couple of tips that really helped - use trolley whenever shopping - don't use a basket. If you have to carry bags, keep elbows bent, don't carry them with arms straight down, it really strains the tendon attachment. Also see the website below - Super 7 rehab exercises for Tennis elbow.

Good luck.

Getting really top quality pain relief I take naproxen for mine.

Acupuncture worked wonders for mine where steroid injections, nsaids, physio and exercises had totally failed

And if possible, no cleaning! vacuuming and mopping floors - it was so painful I just stopped doing it. Can do some now but am really careful as it was chronically painful for a long time. One other thing, do you sleep on your side? think about your arm position - I side sleep and my arms are up towards my pillow, and my wrists were bent when i slept - I couldn't work out why my elbows were really painful in the morning - they were hyper flexing the tendon - i just try and keep wrists straight, elbows bent is ok. Sounds weird but it made a difference.
