Slurred speech and forgetting words

I have noticed my words slurring together and I am having difficulty finding the right words, if I make a mistake I try to correct it and say the wrong word again. I am also having difficulty reading aloud. I have been to gp who took loads of blood which all came back normal.
I am hypothyroid but thyroid function tested again along with b12, glucose levels and testosterone all normal.
Going back to GP during half term, what should I ask to be checked next? I sometimes have numb lips in the morning, fatigue and leg pain first thing. Don't want to Dr Google as i am too scared.

There are lots of different types of migraine, not just "headache" ones, that can affect speech etc. Sounds like a referral to neurology would be a start.

No don't google it. Neuro I think too. Good luck!

Thank you ladies :) I will ask for a referral next week (and stay away from Google).

I've got similar symptoms. Neurologist says it's not dementia. Referred to speech therapist. They say they can't help (not unexpected). They asked GP to refer me for an MRI.

I've had it for about 5 years but it's worse than ever at the moment. I don't know if it's stress related (v.busy with work at the moment) or perhaps related to my v.low carb diet?

Hi, I have ME/CFS and what you have described is one of my many symptoms and it's very hard to get used too. There is an actual name for what's happening but I can't remember what it is but a Google search may bring it up. It could be many things but definitely worth checking with doctor

Fourarmsv2 · 10/02/2015 19:53

Are you a teacher THIO? I am. Neurologist seemed to think this was a common problem for teachers.

Jaded2004 · 10/02/2015 19:53

Sorry I forgot to add that ME is also quite painful and obviously you get very fatigued. Fibro is another similar condition also.

Fourarmsv2 · 10/02/2015 19:54

Ability to type accurately is also a problem for me. :( Sorry TLIO!

I am a teacher too and I have been experiencing this. Marking my place!

Had a bizarre bottom lip tremble just when i was trying to go to sleep, this has happened before but I took no notice. Will mention this on Thursday when I see the Dr. I don't think I am stressed, busy at work but not stressed. Will let you know what happens next.

I used to get this along with other worrying symptoms. Dr's said it was something called focal migraine and I'm not allowed to take anything with Estrogen. I was on the combined pill at the time I had symptoms.

Got a referral to a neurologist in April, will keep you updated :)
