Getting calpol out of bottle with a syringe (impossible!)

Is it just me? When my ds was small I would give him medicine from a syringe. This had a bung type thing that made it easy to get calpol into syringe. Had dd after a biggish gap, and now really struggling with syringe. Bung type thing is now ridged, hollow and is meant to be pushed into neck of bottle....except it will NOT STAY in. Is it just me?
Am sick of covering myself, kitchen surfaces and floor in sticky goo! Almost impossible to use as it is not possible to turn bottle upside down. And as for not getting air bubbles in........ Now have to give dd calpol in a spoon, which covers me and her in pink stuff, especially as it is easier to spit out, which she invairiably does. Please help!

pour calpol into the lid then suck it up with the syringe.

If you buy a syringe in Boots it comes with a bunge. Why don't you pour some Calpol into a tablespoon and suck it into the syringe from there?

i just bought one from pharmacy in sainburys fot 55p with turn upside down bung bought identical one from tesco two months ago £3. Or do as chubleigh says, or i now have two bungs if u want me to post one its the syringe that keeps breaking

Boots gave me a free syringe & bung...when i bought medicine for DD..i'm sure most dispensing pharmacies would give them away..

fizzbuzz · 21/10/2006 13:33

These were free syringes given away with medicine. Oh no, it really is just me! I will go to Boots next time, and not horrid local chemist which is populated by people from a 1950's Sci-Fi movie. Thanks for all help!

We just pour it into the plastic spoon thingy and then suck up with a syringe.

Or use baby Nurofen instead which comes with its own syringe! much easier!

No it isn't just you - I know exactly what you mean and I still have one of the older style tops which I guard closely. I've found the medicine droppers easier to use - bought in Boots .....but I've not seen any for a while.
