Severe stabbing pain in back passage...

VainVulva · 04/02/2015 16:13

I'm very worried and confused. Since Saturday night I have had really bad stabbing pain up my back passage, I also have constipation.

I first thought that oh it's just the constipation causing the pain but I have never had anything like it before even when I have been constipated previously. I'm still pretty much constipated, though I am having bowel movements but very difficult to go and the pain is so bad I nearly jump off the toilet.

I also get the pain at random points throughout the day, so not just when I'm on the toilet.

I'm thinking it could be piles, but there is no bleeding or itching.

I had a c section five weeks ago, so wondering if that has anything to do with it, I'm also breastfeeding. Though I had no problem with piles or pain during pregnancy.

Any advice greatly appreciated!!! X

I think it sounds like internal piles. Poor you. But get checked asap in case it is related to scar formation from the section.

Sounds like internal piles to me too. Very common post pregnancy. The pain is awful. I can remember crying on the toilet and literally staggering two steps to the cabinet to get some ibuprofen.

Try ibuprofen, glycerin suppositories and prune juice to get everything moving again.

With my second DC I had the good sense to have a small glass of disgusting prune juice everyday for the first few months to avoid this horror being repeated.

As SirVix says though it would be wise to call 111 or your GP given you have so recently had surgery.

Thanks for replying, hmm the c section didn't go too well, I had adhesions to my bladder from previous section and lost a lot of blood then had a small infection in my wound.

Also every time I manage a poo I end up having some bloody discharge from my vagina (definitely not my bum) though thinking this could be from the straining....god I'm a mess Blush

It's good (iykwim) to hear that someone else had the same experience, as I have been fretting, thinking its cancer or something awful.

I have also been worrying about having to get a finger up the bum by the gp.....I can't bear the thoughts of my privates being fiddled with anymore, I've had enough of that giving birth!!!

i dont spose GP's look forward to it, if it is any consolation. But it is part of their day job so they are used to it.
Hope you get it sorted out soon.

tak1ngchances · 04/02/2015 16:33

I had exactly the same after my c section and I got checked out. Dr couldn't say what was wrong with me but in the end advised buscopan, senna and glycerin suppositories.
Within 4 days I was fine

That's interesting tak1ngchances that you had the same thing, can I ask did the gp do a physical exam on you?

I went back to my obstetrician, who did an ultrasound and pelvic exam

Does it happen at night? I sometimes get a severe pain at nighttime that's only relieved by sitting on a hot water bottle or cushion. GP thinks it's a spasm of sorts, did a proctoscopy (sort of like a speculum examination of the back end) to confirm nothing too untoward though.

VainVulva · 04/02/2015 21:49

No it happens both day and night!

Sounds like javelin arse to me.

I get it. I find if I can pass wind it relieves it. And I feel like I need to pass wind, but struggle to do it and it's painful to do but sorts the pain immediately.

Like you it can happen at anytime. I've screamed in Tesco when the pain came on suddenly.

Think it is to do with muscle spasm and there's a proper medical name for it which I forget.

VivaLeBeaver · 04/02/2015 21:58

Proctalgia fugax

allypally999 · 05/02/2015 08:59

yep could be javelin arse (proctalgia fusax??) ... or piles ... or small tear

only way to find out is some poor GP having a look/feel - they don't care really - trust me I have to have this done often and you need to know which it is

hot water bottle to sit on is only thing helps the javelin/spasm thing but the other 2 can be relieved with ointment/suppositories, etc
