Cracked fingers

I've started to get cracks around my fingernails and on my finger joints. They start off small but then widen and bleed. It's making everyday things difficult as they're really painful. I'm pretty sure it's caused by the cold and lots of hand washing as I've had sore, dry and itchy hands during winter before, but I can't avoid washing and I wear gloves outside.

Has anyone experienced this, and is there anything I can do to prevent it happening?

I get the cracks on the tops of my fingers and thumbs where it's impossible to plaster them. I've taken to superglue too, it actually helps a lot because it stops the initial crack getting worse.
When my LOs were in nappies I used disposable (powder free) gloves for nappy changing to cut down on hand washing.

If you are in health care try to use the sanitiser for the six occasions and then wash hands on the 7th occasions as per WHO guidelines. Once I switch to doing this my hands were much better, I also apply high quality hand cream around 4 times a day. Liz Earle is the one that works for me.
