The NHS is dying

I can't get an appointment with my GP for 2 weeks and I'm then working away for a month. I can't book one for 6 weeks time apparently either as it is too far in the future. I last went to the GP in 2009 and got an appointment the next day. What is going on?

My sister and brother in law have just quit A&E blaming the reforms that have made the NHS reliant on agency staff. They are going to retrain within the profession.

I know the current lot in power campaigned to stop the creation of the NHS and wanted to keep a pay per use / insurance service, but surely they have moved on from this total opposition to our NHS?

I feel really sad about this issue.

That's a ludicrous situation with your GP. Do they not have 'on the day call at 8 am' appointments?

I would look for another surgery.

I asked about on the call as my old surgery in Wales used to have this. You might be right about finding a new surgery!

My query is about routine minor surgery, so it is hardly an emergency. Still, would be nice to receive advice from my GP.

The NHS isn't dying. It's being systematically killed off.

It's winter which does not help but I am getting very worried about it tbh

It all feels rather fraught , stretched and scary

There is a national shortage of GPs and at the moment there is a surge in winter bugs which is swamping us. By 8.20 this morning all our on the day appointments were gone. (Middle of next week for a routine one) and we deal with 40+ phone calls this morning and saw extras as needed. We have complex patients living at home some of whom have had 2-3 visits this week plus out of ours call outs as we try to avoid hospital admission as the patients go in, get a quick fix and come out.
This is very time consuming. We are adding an extra 3 GP sessions a week from April but this isn't enough. I haven't a clue who I am going to vote for next election as health is so important to me.

I think vote for whoever can beat the ConDems in our respective areas.

Why can't you call them frm where you'll be working. Presumably unless you're in Australia that shouldn't be too difficult.
