I was diagnosed with Breastcancer in 2013 since then I have had 2 lots of surgery, 6 sessions of Chemo and Radiotherapy.

My periods stopped during round 2 of Chemo (I didn't miss them) But a year after they stopped I had a VERY heavy bleed. Oncologist said it was probably just my periods restarting, but just to make sure he would order an ultrasound.

So yesterday I went for an ultrasound and as it turned out a transvaginal ultrasound as well. I was expecting them to say all looked normal. BUT they found thickening and a fibroid and cysts on my ovaries. Apparantly nothing looks too sinister. But I have been referred to a gyneacologist. That doesn't worry me.

What worries me is my Breast Care Nurse said the appointment will be within the 2 week guidelines?? But why the urgency if they aren't worried. Surely a few extra weeks won't make any difference!

So now I am concerned that there is more to this. It's so frustrating as I was just getting my life back to 'normal' or as normal as it can be post Breast Cancer.

Just wandered if anyone else had been through the same thing? Also just wanted to put my worries down so I'm not bottling them all up. I'm 99% sure this is just a little hiccup and that they will say it's due to the tamoxifen and that they just need to keep an eye. But that 1% of doubt always seems to make itself heard!

Hi, not been through exactly the same thing but I am on tamoxifen and had recent investigations for spotting. They found a cyst but no thickening. What I would say is that anything sinister would show on the scan and they wouldn't have been able to reassure you.

By referring you quickly they are just being cautious, I found they act quickly with any problems for quite a few years after being diagnosed but it is just them being thorough rather than there being a problem. I think it is just part and parcel of the cancer diagnosis. If I went to the doctor with a cough for example they would refer me very quickly just due to previous history. They are just very, very careful for a few years. As my surgeon said 'for the first 2 years we watch you like a hawk!'

I am sure they will just monitor you and it is good you are being checked out. Try not to worry, though I know it is hard.

Thanks, that's what I've been trying to tell myself. But reassuring to hear it from someone else. Wink
