I cannot tolerate adrenal glandulars. I'm using nutri adrenal and it makes me feel awful. Jittery, palpitations, anxious, sick. I have cut the tablets in four but feel lousy even on this small dose.

I am also using all the other usual adrenal supports (adrenomax, vit c, d3, complex b's etc etc ) but Dr P feels I need more support. He is a bit perplexed as to why it makes me feel so lousy and hasn't as yet got a back up plan (he is thinking it over).

Oh wise ones of MN any advice or ideas ? Flowers

Oh Barry Sad

There are plenty of practicing GMC registered doctors who believe in woo woo. There is an NHS funded homeopathy hospital!

TheSpottedZebra · 25/01/2015 18:44

Suspend for 18 months and chose to lecture and write books instead.

TheSpottedZebra · 25/01/2015 18:45

But hasn't it been proven that homoeopathy does work?
Just no better than any other 'medically-administered' placebo.

Clobbered · 25/01/2015 18:48

Sorry, those qualifications might look impressive, but they are no more than the basic medical degree, albeit two different versions. Any consultant endocrinologist worth their salt would have at least MRCP in this country.
All sounds very dodgy to me.

iklboo · 25/01/2015 18:50

He was never on GMC Specialist Register either.

noddyholder · 25/01/2015 18:57

I have been treated for adrenal failure/addisonian symptoms and there is no reserve ime.

itwillbebetter · 25/01/2015 18:58

Mmmm, was waiting for this to come upGrin . He indeed retired before he was pushed but before he went he was well respected in the thyroid world for his ability to successfully treat an awful lot of very sick people. I'm sure his 40 years of being one of the top thyroid doctors means he practised more than just woo! He was very vocal in his opinion that nhs guidelines for thyroid treatments were outdated and vastly larger than many other countries. I happen to believe that's completely right.
Checking out now as whilst I appreciate everyone's different viewpoint it's sidetracking the thread

Well he will certainly know a damn sight more than any us! Guess you have already tried a selenium supplement (helps the t4 to t3 conversion), eating more selenium rich foods (brazil nuts, garlic, off the top if my head).

itwillbebetter · 25/01/2015 20:27

321. Yep have been supplementing with selenium (and Brazil nuts) for a while! Thanks !

Can I jump onto this thread - sorry itwillbebetter - I have low cortisol after havign to take steroids for three years (average of 15 mg a day).....am down to 2mg a day now but cannot get any lower without going into adrenal crisis. Am taking prednisilone - should I just resign myself to taking 2mg forever? And will that amount hurt my bones? Thank you so much. And in support of Dr Peatfield, he really isn't a quack from what I have read. He just disagrees with NHS refusal to treat women (mainly) suffering with 'normal' test results yet feeling dire.
