So my tummy has been uncomfortable for a few days, woke up with ds at 4am, started vomiting and diorreah. Horrific tummy cramps, basically passing water not stools. There is red blood when I wipe and in the bowl.
Do I assume piles and get on with it or call OOH?

I'd call them now to be honest. If you're passing water then you could be dehydrated. Is there a lot of blood? Have you been on holiday recently??

RuckAndRoll · 24/01/2015 12:32

A fair amount of blood, yes.
No holidays, chance would be a fine thing

Yep - you need to call OOH. Are you able to keep fluids down?

gamerchick · 24/01/2015 12:38

Well how red is red?

RuckAndRoll · 24/01/2015 12:42

Bright red.

If I can stay out of the bathroom for longer than 2 mins I will call them

I'd give 111 a call. It's most likely a tummy bug, the water indicates that your colon is inflamed (colitis could explain the bleeding too) but it's always wise to get qualified advice incase it's something that needs investigating or treating. Do you have any rehydration sachets in the mean time?

LadySybilLikesSloeGin · 24/01/2015 12:44

Is there anyone in the house who can call for you??

gamerchick · 24/01/2015 12:49

Bright red I wouldn't panic but it sounds as if you need reassurance so I would ring. Peace of mind is worth any phone call.

If when you're feeling better it continues past the bowl just being a sensitive hyper alert twat stage, push them to do a stool sample. It's taken 5 1/2 years of misery to get the chance to take poo to the pathology lab to test for that helicopter thing.

LadySybilLikesSloeGin · 24/01/2015 13:01

Helicobacter, gamerchick? Must have been horrible :(

LadySybilLikesSloeGin · 24/01/2015 13:05

www.emedicinehealth.com/helicobacter_pylori_h_pylori/page3_em.htm#helicobacter_pylori_h_pylori_symptoms Sounds very similar, Ruck. It advises seeking medical help if there's bleeding. I hope you're OK Thanks

gamerchick · 24/01/2015 13:29

Yeah helicopters... little twirly bastards. If I test positive I may have stern words with my gp for just chucking codeine and Loperamide at me for years.

Still I've heard it can be cured Grin

That's how it started though OP. Mega bad belly and a big bleed that lasted all day. Please get it seen to if it persists to avoid having to get used to it.

RuckAndRoll · 24/01/2015 14:28

Waiting on a call back. This pain is worse than a good portion of labour with my son

I'd get yourself off to a&e rather than wait. Especially with the blood and pain. We're you constipated prior to the runs? The blood might be from a tear if you were bunged up, but best to get checked out

mejon · 24/01/2015 16:01

Sounds very much like the campylobacter poisoning I had before Christmas. Intense stomach pain coupled with almost constant watery and bloody diarrohea (bugger me I can never spell that word!) that lasted 5 days. Didn't vomit but felt nauseous the whole time. Dehydration is a concern if you're on the toilet a lot - you need to make sure you drink each time you go if you can (easier said than done as drinking made my pain worse). I've no idea how I caught it as all the family had the same food/drink but it can incubate for several days and isn't always immediate. Hope you get seen and some reassurance soon.

Annietheacrobat · 24/01/2015 17:53

Bleeding diarrhoea is a definite reason to call a doctor.

RuckAndRoll · 24/01/2015 18:44

Haggisfish · 24/01/2015 20:36

Hope you're ok.

Moodykat · 24/01/2015 22:33

Hope you are OK op.

RuckAndRoll · 25/01/2015 13:43

Thanks guys. I was there until late being observed. Bleeding stopped but still in a lot of pain so sky high on painkillers

OP posts:
LadySybilLikesSloeGin · 25/01/2015 13:58

Sounds a little better than yesterday to me Wink

Annietheacrobat · 26/01/2015 08:29

What do they think it is? Are they going to do a sigmoidoscopy?

RuckAndRoll · 27/01/2015 16:36

I'm off to see the GP again tomorrow. They just said it was a tummy bug and take some painkillers and rest.
