Infected MILK SPOTS ....

Ds is 10 weeks old and for the last 7 weeks he had had these horrible infected milk spots, they are red, with a yellowy head and are all over his face, neck arms and chest.

The doctor originally gave me some fucidin (AB) cream, which i used for 10 days and did nothing at all, then he gave me fucidin with hydrocortisone, this hasn't really done much either.(wasn't very happy about using steroid cream on his little face and neck but did under GP instructions).

I have not been using anything in his baths, no comfort in wash, double rinsing his clothes (non bio)and i am at the end of my tether, don't know what else to do It isn't dry or flaky so can't be exzema.

Does anyone have any ideas? please

is the GP sure they are milk spots ? I am surprised the fucidin had no effect as it's quite potent.I would go back to the GP and press fro a 2nd opinion perhaps?
you could also try soem outmeal in the bath which is very soothing.

I have to say it doesn't sound like milkspots to me - hope other posters can help.

Thanks Donnie, i didn't think milkspots either, tbh they look like spots an adult would get (zits lol) they are awful, with big yellowy green heads on them, it is really getting me down now.

My ds had this I tried all that the gp gave me, he even had them in his hair, nothing worked at all but it all cleared by itself. Just tried and keep him open to air and try not to let him sweat to much. As they were in his hair he ended up getting cradle cap and I used dentinox cradle cap shampoo to clear that which worked wonders.

In the bath now I dont use any bubble bath type stuff but I do use pears soap bars (I had this when I was a baby) as both dd and ds have quite sensitive skin and this is the only thing that gets them clean without giving them rashes.

Not sure if this helps but I know exactly how you feel, it was horrible but they do clear up I promise, there is a picture od my ds on here somewhere he is 9 months old now with perfect peachy skin!!

Emskilou...Thanks, it is a relief to hear from someone who has been there, i don't think they bother him at all but (it may sound vain on my behalf) they just looked horrible, and when i am out and stranger peep in the pram, i feel i have to explain what the spots are.

They are in his hair too, back of his neck and back, under chin, face, arms and chest, they seem to clear up slightly then come back with avengence.

Thankyou for the replies.

I was exactly the same, I thought he looked like a minature spotty teenager poor little thing, they didn't bother him in the slightest, I was worried they did but he truly wasnt affected. It got me down too but it will go away, I'm sure he us absolutely gorgeous anyway
