The bottom situation (piles) is worse and becoming unbearable, but i'm too embarassed to go the doctors. (I don't know why really, i've got no problem getting my bits out for a smear etc!)I'm even too embarassed to go the chemists or discuss it with my fella. Can someone please inspire some confidence to get this sorted out?!?!

Merlot
she has more nerve than me. Cuz I wouldn't have been able to go there.

Sorry, just wouldn't have.

Book in to see a female GP and tell them you have a problem of a feminine nature you'd rather not discuss w/a receptionist.

If the cream doesn't help then please please go to the Doctors.

Maybe tmi but if it helps............
There are different types of piles, some that are permanently inside, some that pop out when you go to the toilet but that either go back on their own or can be gently pushed back, some that are external, and then there is the external thrombosed pile which is what I had recently and believe me I couldn't even sit down, kneeling was the only option and the pain was unbelievable, all the time. I suffered one day then hotfooted it to the Doctor (albeit with a funny sort of gait ). They can prescribe stronger creams/suppositories (with strong local anaesthetic) than you can get at the chemist. The first time I suffered one of these (years ago) I actually went to A&E and was admitted into hospital to have it dealt with.(That brought another sort of embarrassment involving a lost dressing and a torch, but that's another story)

This last time I managed to reduce it with the extra strong creams/suppositories from the Doctor, and copious amounts of Fybogel.

Please don't feel embarrassed, it's an unbelievably common complaint and I can guarantee that your Doctor will have dealt with loads of cases.

Good luck

I have found the best cream to be Proctosedyl. I have tried everything from over the counter and prescribed and these imo are the best. Witch Hazel is also good. You can soak a pad of cotton wool with it and it supposedly shrinks them (never noticed this myself)but is very soothing. DONT be embarrassed just about everyone gets them at some point in their life. Good luck
