Help - i need some advice. Ever since the birth of DD tampons are no use. sorry - going to be a bit crude now. i put one in - no problem there - but with in about 15 mins the string is blood soaked and so are my knickers.i take the tampon out which is a painful mission as the its as dry as a bone. why does this happen? starting to wonder what they did to me when stsching me up after labour! any advice please? i'm really starting to worry and am too fanny phobic to go to the doctors.

in all honesty - you might need a quick visit to the docs!!!

did you have a deep tear or any other trauma? how old is DD and and is this your first period since the birth?

paws4thought · 17/10/2006 16:49

i had an episiotomy with a difficult labour. my baby was stuck and they fractured her skull getting her out so my bits were left in a bit of a mess too. The thought of some one poking around in me terrifies me.it sounds nasty but DH seems to think that it feels normal during sex but i'm not so sure. some times if i put a tampon in it goes straight up and others it veers off to the right. oh god - i'm so worried.

how awful- sounds just horrific..

i presume you have had your 6 week check...if so they would have checked all has healed as it should...your DH thinking it feels ok is differnet to what a gynae would see IFYKWIM!!!

hate to say this..but you need to go to docs.....i know the thought of being poked is awful....but you can;t do this every month either and be so worried..

paws4thought · 17/10/2006 16:59

i forgot that i had the 6 week check. they sent me to a gynie at the local hospital for it as i think they were expecting the worst and he gave me the ok so may be its not as bad as i think. thank you for mentioning that. its a bit of a relief. you are right though - i should go and get it checked out.they may have even have seen it before and tell me to go home and not worry. that would be the ideal solution.

once you've given birth .....a doctor looking at your bits is not really so awful....

at my docs , they sent my lovely HV in to hold my hand -- after DDs birth i had an infection and had to have an internal 3 weeks after her birth..........but someone to hold my hand was lovely...maybe take a friend with or DH if anxious about being examined

it might be a really simple issue that they can help you with really quickly..

pelvic floor exercises!!

SoupDragon · 17/10/2006 18:51

Think about it... baby's head, size of a tampon. No comparison is there.

Eeek · 17/10/2006 18:58

I have exactly the same problem and a mooncup is so awful its funny. Well, not really. Like putting a cup in a bucket. Get your doctor to refer you to a specialist physio who will help you to make sure the pelvic floor exercises are actually helping. I've been seeing one for a few weeks and they're brilliant. It's mildly embarrassing at first but nothing to compare with childbirth!

Highlander · 17/10/2006 19:50

After DS1 I just couldn't use tampons, and I had an elec CS. Very uncomfortable, felt very dry inside. Wierdly though, sex very OK.

mustcackleorsuckbloodmore · 17/10/2006 19:56

Tampons not as effective for me either, and i had a section both times, which i always found a bit odd. And its terrible if I try to run!

spagbol · 17/10/2006 20:00

I'm with Eeeek. I had one baby in Switzerland where childbirth is much more mum-friendly and pelvic floor physio post baby is standard for everyone to make sure all bits go back to normal. Slightly embarrassing but better than becoming incontinent and wetting yourself in Tescos imo.

paws4thought · 18/10/2006 17:19

hi - i'm really pleased that i read all your posts. i was ng odd like given me two fanny holes whilst stitching me up! phew - i will work on my pelvic floor and by the way - mooncup - please enlighten me.

I've not been able to use tampons since ahving dd by c/s 2 years ago. Even the small ones feel too long and don't sit high enough, they always feel uncomfortable and like they're about the pop out. Glad someone else raised this!

Did you see Drs to make sure you're okay?

MoonFrogBellydancer · 18/10/2006 20:23

Search for messages with Mooncup in the title, there are loads of them on here.

Also, here's the Mooncup website.

I'm seriously thinking of getting one.

mustcackleorsuckbloodmore · 19/10/2006 16:30

I just couldn't use one!Sorry, but it reminds me of those sucky things from xmas crackers etc, that you stick on the table and they pop up and fly off!
