Potty training regression when ill?

Ds1 has been ill for a couple of days, and it seems all he has done is wet and soil himself, day and night. He is 3.5, so not really young or anything, but he only trained in June.

Can he regress? And will he become retrained when he is better, or will I have to retrain him? He was a nightmare to train the first time round, I have had to put him back in night time nappies as he has been constantly wet for a fea days, after being dry all the time for moths of his own doing.

It's my understanding that little ones can regress for a while when they are ill or stressed, but it won't be forever!

dd trained in August, and after weeks of no accidents at all had several when starting a heavy cold....I just took a step back with her, back to the 'it doesn't matter, we'll try and aim for the potty next time' and prompting more often. And it passed after a few days - except for the sudden attacks of the runs, which she couldn't anticipate in time.

I think its really normal for them to regress when ill or stressed, when PT is so recent - honest.

And I hope he feels better soon, saw your other thread; if its any help, I've suddenly been a bit asthmatic at this time of year over the past couple of years, then it gets better...its a horrid season for chesty things.
