Adult teeth - which toothpaste?

Hi, my son now has three adult teeth and I'm wondering if I should be switching from the kids toothpaste to a different one. Is there an 'inbetween' toothpaste or should he move striaght onto adult toothpaste?

Thanks!

don't think it matters tbh

our hv turned up once with a tube of colgate saying everyone had to have adult toothpaste from now on, but dd spat it out

i asked my dentist who said whatever you can get them to brush their teeth with is fine, so long as they are brushing them. he even admitted to using his sample tubes of disney toothpaste when he got into work in the morning!

Straight to adult.
My dentist told me to use noraml toothpaste when my dd was 2.

Is there not an issue with the fluoride for children though?

boots do an apple mint toothpaste. Sometimes adlt toothpaste can taste very strong for children. If you do use adult toothpaste, use smaller amounts than you would for yourself.

my HV said straight to adult toothpaste for us as there's no fluoride in the water and as aresult terrible probs with tooth decay i the area with even consientious parents. (can't spell) I know some people are funny about fluoride but it really does make a difference in terms of dental care.

I spoke to my dentist about this last week.

Basically once you can spit out the toothpaste you should use adult toothpaste - they make kids toothpaste with lower fluoride levels as they generally swallow it and it's not good for you.

My kids are 5 and 7 and I buy Colgate 2-6 for the 5 year old and 6+ for the 7 year old. Adult toothpaste is a bit too minty-strong for her yet. HTH

Gosh, my dentist said completely the opposite to what most of yours have said. She said not to use adult toothpaste until the adult teeth have come through as the levels of fluoride are too high in an adult toothpaste and discolour children's teeth.

Maybe she's a maverick.

My kids have always used 'adult' toothpaste. When you look on side of toothpaste tube it gives you a number **ppm fluoride. Was advised to use toothpaste with the number being closest to 1000ppm fluoride. Hope this helps.
