Name changed....
Im 31 and have pcos and last had scans oct 2013 all fine, but the last few weeks I have been getting pain in ovaries, my health anxiety is steering my mind into thinking the worst :( (ovarian c) seen my gp 2 weeks ago and she didn't seem concerned and since then I have been getting more symptoms such as pains in both thighs then I woke up yesterday feeling bloated and full and have had 2 bouts of diarrhea in that time.
I do however have ibs but it's never like this :(
Can't see the gp untill week after next, I'm ill with worrying which is making my bowels worse, also the top part of my stomach feels like I need to burp but can't, it is also making weird noises.
I am crying as I type this, and can't stop googling :(

Will try to stop googling :)
It's taking over my life :(
When I'm good I'm brill, but when I'm down it's awful .

The full feeling im getting is the scariest part, because I am hungry but just feel full, also I don't think I am bloated -well there is no distension of hardness

Exactly my symptoms and its IBS. As mentioned IBS fluctuates a huge amount and stress, which you are clearly experiencing, makes it worse. Not at all surprising that it would be much worse at this time.

Letitallout · 16/12/2014 20:39

Been to the gp, who said it all seems ibs related. She prescribed me alverine citrate so have taken 1 , will see how I go.
She checked my stomach and said i didn't sound like a typical oc case Hmm despite posters on her walls on awareness of oc showing my symptoms ! Nevertheless my mind is at ease for now.
Really appreciate the replies :)
school for some reason my mind can't accept that because iv never had these symptoms before that I can't ever get them :(

I know letitallout but IBS is a pain (figuratively and literally!) as the symptoms fluctuate wildly and can stop for a while and then flare up and different flares can have different affects on you. It's not great, and it's especially not great when you already have health anxiety as you can convince yourself it's something else. Really does sound like my IBS symptoms though. Did you mention the health anxiety to the GP? Please do talk to a GP about it. The anxiety will make the IBS worse too, just continuing the cycle of worry and illness.

marne2 · 17/12/2014 10:51

You are at the right age for IBS to start showing its face. I get it and I can remember my mum getting it when she was my age, stress can make it worse so try not to worry too much. I can no longer tolerate caffeine or too much milk, it sets of my Ibs but I used to be fine, things can change as you get older.

Letitallout · 17/12/2014 13:36

Iv had ibs for a couple of years one and get the really bad wind pains with ibs resulting in needing to pass a lot of wind Blush
Also get the sudden urges to go to the loo after various meals.
I have NEVER had the full feeling hence me being worried.
Dr knows I have health anxiety but will adress it properly again with my own gp on Monday.
Just iv read so much how ibs can mask oc and I don't want to be one of them articles you read about where I'm diagnosed really late because gp thought I was too young to be tested for oc and just passed it as ibs :(

Letitallout · 17/12/2014 19:31

iv just seen an advert that names feeling full and bloating as the main symptoms of oc Sad I feel so sick with worry :(

But I thought you didn't have bloating! Feeling full could well be purely psychological.

You have seen a doctor . Calm down and force yourself to think of something else even if it's doing times tables etc

Letitallout · 17/12/2014 20:01

I don't know hot to explain the feeling im getting on the top part of my stomach, sort of full but not any bigger
when im eating im eating the same amount but feel full longer

OP posts:
SageSeymour · 17/12/2014 20:02

You haven't got OC and it's not helpful for others to indulge you in symptom checking. You know this yourself : )

Distract

Greengrow · 17/12/2014 20:30

Has your doctor done tests? If not go back and get tests.
Also try intermittent fasting, only drinking water and only eating lots of veg, nuts, eggs, fish etc - no processed foods.

Letitallout · 17/12/2014 20:37

i just get myself in a panic at times.

what type of tests?
i had h pylori test few month ago- negative.

OP posts:
306235388 · 17/12/2014 20:38

You do NOT need tests

SageSeymour · 17/12/2014 20:48

Tests for what?!

Look, my mum had OC and she was post menopausal. It's almost unheard of in women of your age.

I'd advise you to stop posting now and go and do something else

crumblebumblebee · 17/12/2014 21:02

Instead of googling cancer symptoms, why not google anxiety distraction techniques?

Letitallout · 18/12/2014 07:14

Really appreciate everyone taking their time to reply :)
Well I woke up this morning STILL feeling full.
I know this ha won't dissapears on its own and do need help, however the medications always make me pile on wright, I'm already 2 stone overweight :(, I struggle to lose weight with my pics and don't want an extra battle of more weight.
I have booked myself a private scan for the 8th of Jan so hopefully get some answers then.
It's a full abdomen and pelvic scan , hopefully if it's not the worst case scenario, then they will find out what's wrong and means I can eliminate stuff.
A lot if people think ha is exaggerated but I can assure you that these symptoms are real and I'm experiencing them. I would not for 1 minute wish this illness on anyone as it is really debilitating and it's something I wish I didn't have.

OP posts:
SageSeymour · 18/12/2014 07:42

That's HA described to a tee though. You have symptoms but instead of thinking normally ( ' oh it's my IBS or a bug or an intolerance ' ) , people with HA think ' it's cancer ' and that's where the problem lies

Letitallout · 18/12/2014 08:19

I appreciate what your saying
The thing is if things last longer than 2-3 days, I panic hugely :(
I'm rarely ill, never get colds/flu/sickness etc that's why I worry .

OP posts:
IHeartKingThistle · 18/12/2014 14:55

When my IBS is bad I get pains in my thighs and a full feeling too. These symptoms are fairly new although I've had IBS for years.

I have also struggled with HA but now when I get a symptom I have trained myself to wait a week or two before really getting worried. I tell myself I'll go to the doctor on a certain date if it isn't improving or gone. I haven't been to the doctor for months because every symptom so far has disappeared when I stopped worrying about it. Smile

Bloody IBS and its stupid vague fluctuating symptoms has a lot to answer for if you ask me!

Letitallout · 18/12/2014 17:18

Well I'm back from work, had an awful day re symptoms.
Haven't ate much at all and feel very uncomfortable now, called into boots for advice and she said upper tummy bloating is normally heartburn/acid so I bought some gaviscon.
Hoping it helps. Just wish I would wake u and feel hungry.

OP posts:
pinkfrocks · 18/12/2014 17:23

Who is doing your scan and what sort is it?
I'm a bit surprised you have been able to book a private scan without a drs referral letter- have you got that?

I have scan quite often and as my insurance no longer pays they are expensive- £240 for a tranvaginal scan which is what is needed to see the ovaries properly. An abdo scan doesn't pick up as much.

Can I ask what kind of scan you have booked, whether you were told what to ask for and what kind of dr is carrying it out? I'd hate you to spend money on something that wasn't the right course of action.

pinkfrocks · 18/12/2014 17:27

Can I just add that IBS is diagnosed after all other things have been excluded; your GP would refer you on the NHS for scans if they thought it was necessary. These would include blood tests, but also perhaps an endoscopy or a colonoscopy depending on where you had most symptoms. I wonder if you are throwing money away that would be best spent on some kind of other support- like CBT or hypnotherapy?

Letitallout · 18/12/2014 17:37

Ultrasound direct, they are situated in mothercare and do well women scans as well as baby scans, it is all above board.
www.ultrasound-direct.com/women-ultrasound-scans/pelvic-scan-well-woman/

They offer transvaginal as well as ultrasound. :)

OP posts:
pinkfrocks · 18/12/2014 17:42

why aren't you going through your GP for this? if you do have PCOS then a scan would be advised to check if things had changed.
You won't be getting a dr doing the scan for that fee- it will be a technician of some kind. Presumably they will send the report to your GP to examine ?

I think you are being silly, tbh. You need a dr to do this- mine are done by a consultant radiologist and they are able to tell you there and then what they can or cannot see.

If you have real symptoms then see your GP and get referred for a scan.

Hedgehogsbuzz1 · 18/12/2014 17:47

Give up the gluten today. So stop wheat, rye, oats (even if they say gluten free).

Ibs is often linked to gluten. That full feeling I get too after eating wheat etc
