Non-crushable Vitamin D & while we are at it Zinc that doesn't make me feel sick

I have dairy free Vitamin D prescribed by the GP - I have to crush the tablet before I take them & they take forever to get out my mouth

I also have dairy free Zinc effervescent tablets which are vile & make me want to vomit if I haven't eaten enough - which is fair enough but it also happens if I've eaten too much which isn't fair

Can anyone recommend an alternative I can either suggest to the pharmacy or buy myself?

Vitamin D is fat soluble and therefore best taken in a gelcap (and much easier to swallow). You can buy gelcaps on the internet theyre not expensive. Im currently taking 2,000iu per day to keep my levels up over the winter. When I was first tested in 2009, my level was 10! Now it is over 100 and Im much better for it.

What are your levels like and how much are you taking?

You can buy vit D in a spray from Holland and Barret, I do a spray every morning and like to kid myself it makes all the difference!

Panic over they have calcium lactate in them which has no milk in (apparently)

I use Vitashine (buy online) which is a spray and vegan so must be dairy free.

Thanks guys

I'm off shopping at the weekend & I am sure these cannot be the only version of Zinc

I'm hoping to buy some different Vit D gelcaps too

Look on BioCare's web site. Their vitamin D is in oil and generally their supplements are easily absorbed and free of fillers.

Oil - is that like fish oil - I can't take that it upsets me

But thanks

Just realised it's you KatyMac, I have spotted on your threads before, your dietary restrictions are hard, you have my sympathy. I hope you find someone who can help you soon!!!

The Vit D is in olive oil, though that is not universally tolerate either.

They also have a zinc spray in water.

I am struggling with re-introducing

But my Vitamin D levels were 30 (so not as low as RockinD) the crushy tablet is horrid
