No!!! Had mine taken out at surgery couple of weeks ago. I wouldn't do it myself

Matildathecat · 30/11/2014 21:51

You would need to be insane please, please don't say you've done it.

Why????

nomoreminibreaks · 30/11/2014 21:55

Mine fell out if that counts?

KiaOraOAotearoa · 30/11/2014 21:58

Do NOT even think about it!!!!!!!!
Jesus christ!!!
You can bleed seriously and really really fast!

MuscatBouschet · 30/11/2014 21:59

No but paid a private clinic to remove it because family planning wouldn't without discussing alternative contraception.

lemisscared · 30/11/2014 21:59

Nooooooo just don't do it

Titsalinabumsquash · 30/11/2014 22:01

I did, out of desperation. It's not recommended though. Blush

NoArmaniNoPunani · 30/11/2014 22:02

Jesus! Don't do that.

Titsalinabumsquash · 30/11/2014 22:05

I should add I was fine, it was as easy as anything but I got a royal bollocking from pretty much everyone who knew/knows. (Not that I go around broadcasting it in RL)

InvaderZim · 30/11/2014 22:14

I seriously thought about it but I didn't try - mine was falling out anyways. Turns out it had got wedged, had to have local anesthetic and it hurt like crazy to have taken out.

EveryNight · 30/11/2014 22:15

Yes, it was fine.

LineRunner · 30/11/2014 22:17

My feet hurt just reading this.

mineofuselessinformation · 30/11/2014 22:19

No, and I wouldn't advise it!
I had mine taken out - and nearly had to be scraped off the ceiling afterwards. In medical language, there was some 'discomfort'!
I suppose it depends a lot on how wide your cervix is at the time, where it is, etc, etc.
Go and get a nurse to yank it out for you with something that looks very similar to a long-nosed pair of pliers.

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 30/11/2014 22:21

God no - it took two gynaecologists and a nurse and I ended up with a pelvic infection that was the most painful experience of my life

lookingforbaubles · 30/11/2014 22:21

oh crumbs ive been thinking about doing just that!

mine is well past its sell by date, but its such a 3 act drama to get an appointment

i am wondering what the record is for how long anyone has left one in

RedBushedT · 30/11/2014 22:22

I was going to, as I struggled so much to get an appointment to get it taken out.

But DH was aghast and said rather vehemently that he didn't want me to do it myself... I got an appointment.
To be fair, she just used tweezers to grasp the threads and pull from what I could tell.. mutters about how I could easily have done it myself

Comito · 30/11/2014 22:22

WTAF. Why would you do that yourself? I'm not even sure I'd know how to?

SanityClause · 30/11/2014 22:23

Yep. Pushed it out with the placenta, when DS was born.

lougle · 30/11/2014 23:18

Well I needed a wee, 5 minutes ago. I decided to have a feel and the threads were easily felt, so....I pull and it's out.
