ds2(3) fell on friday night and hurt his foot. we took him to a&e , they x-rayed it and said they couldn't see any breaks so prob just a sprain and to keep an eye on it.
sunday night now and he still won't put any weight on it at all. has taken to crawling or asking to be carried. keeps saying 'my toe really hurts'.
how long do i leave this? worried about what to do

take him to the GP tomorrow

Even if it is a sprain and not a break it is probably still very painful. It might be bruised too.

Poor little thing.

no bruising that i can see. still a little bit swollen.am worried that they have missed something.
he took a few steps this pm and was proud of himself and then refused again saying it was too sore.
they did say at a&e to take him back if it got worse or if were still concerned. don't know hwether thats a little drastic though.

well if they did say that, I would probably take him back to just double check.

My DD broke her leg on Saturday and she really didn'g make much of a fuss. We took her to casualty as she could did not want to walk on it but we really did just suspect it was a sprain. It turned out to be a small fracture of the fibia which only just showed on the x ray. The nurse said that often toddler fractures don't show for the first two weeks and if nothing did show on the x ray, but she still didn't want to put weight on it, then they would put her in a cast and take another look in 2 weeks. As it was, it did just about show up. She is in a full cast and seems to be carrying on absolutely as normal. My suggestion is that you do take him back to A and E just to be on the safe side. Good luck.

got a letter from the consultant at the a&e today asking us to take him back. turns out he did have a small break-a greenstick fracture on the top of his foot. poor little man.
he's fine though and mobile now , just got a slight limp. doc said it takes about two weeks for them to heal and he is well on the way.

Sorry to hear that he has indeed broken his foot. Hope he is on the mend and not suffering too much. If he is anything like my DD he will be running around in no time -just try and stop him! We are due to see the consultant on weds and I am really hoping that we will be told that she won't have to have the cast on for the full six weeks. In the meantime, I am having to have showers in secret as we normally have one together and of course she can't at the moment. Swimming is out too so doing the rounds of nearly every playgroup morning and afternoon to keep her mind off the great lump she is dragging round.
