just looked at dd and she got a splodgy red rash on her face! it started on her cheeks and is now over her face and chest. all she has eaten today is toast with chocolate spread for breakfast, apple and grapes then tomato soup with bread and yoghurt all of which she has had before she is telling me she is tired and wants to lie on sofa with a blanket

anyone any ideas what this could be?

Does she have a high temp?or otherwise unwell?
Is it the same brand of choc. spread and soup that she has always had?

Were the apple and grapes thoroughly washed?

Sorry about the list - but this is what i would ask myself.

However, it might not be related to anything she has eaten - it might be a virus. how old is she?

You could try some antihistamine and see if it works. If it doesn't it is probably a virus. Hope she feels better soon.

my dd had something similar. she is 20 months but it was related to her temperature

nulnulcat · 07/10/2006 13:13

she is 2.10 she has a bit of a temperature and is a bit quiter than normal but i have given her piriton so that will dope her up a bit

i made the soup myself and its the same spread she has had since a baby.

can i give her calpol on top of the piriton?

Yes -you can give the calpol. sounds like a virus.
Hope it doesn't last too long. Give her lots of warm drinks.

Sounds like \linkwww.nhsdirect.com/articles/article.aspx?articleId=424{Slapped Cheek/ Fifth disease} - usually mild with fluey symptoms . Common amongst preshcool aged children.
