'Kick up the bum' pain

Anyone else get this randomly? It's literally like a kick up the bum and lasts for about 30 minutes. Me and OH get attacks of it every few months, if one of us gets one we know the other will within days. Weird. He's googled and it's called Cold Anus or something?! Oh and Elvis died of it - yep, on the bog because you feel like you need a poo but don't.

Anyway, just a moan and that's why I'm awake at 4am, there is no cure.

Thank goodness for mumsnet!

I have this about once a month or so in the middle of the night. Only thing that helps is to go to toilet and attempt ( i.e strain, but don't actually poo) even though I don't one. Normally gets rid of it straight away thankfully.

Weird that it's often the middle of the night.

Yes, attempting to go to the loo does seem to help.

I'm so relieved I've found others with this.

Look at us all!
It's totally like needing a poo but not being able to, not constipated but not actually needing one. And a dull spasmy ache. And always in the middle of the night. Weird. I haven't noticed any regular occurrence, just randomly every 3-4 months or so.

I haven't read the other thread but not sure it's like a javelin arse thing, the pain isn't a sharp one - which I presume a javelin one is!
