Our dd has an ear infection again and she's only 6 months. She's on her 3rd set of antibiotics. The doctor says it can't be helped as we live in Manchester in the damp and rain! Are there any credible ways to help get rid of these infections?
I've read about cranial osteopathy (which the doctor was sceptical about)and even using toothpaste with Xylitol in it (which you can't get for babies).
Any ideas gratefully received

Does anyone in the house smoke? That can be a cause of recurrent ear infections in babies.

Don't believe the weather has that much to do with it, although she may be more exposed to viruses at this time of year which may then trigger a bacterial infection especially if she goes to nursery or similar. It is more likely to do with her having tiny eustacian tubes which trap the bacteria and create a great breeding ground for them . Make sure you do as much as possible to minimise congestion when she gets a cold. Boots used to do toothpaste with Xylitol for kids, also one of the new Pneumococcal vaccines helps prevent ear infections.
