Hello!
This is driving me mad now i have, Bad spots around chin and mouth, a few on back and chest, driving me mad, I'm on treatment from the doctor which is called "benzamycin" gel, Doctor said give it 4 weeks but it's been 7 weeks and I've seen very little difference, I'm going back to the Doctor next week, but worried that it's going to be like this trying a treatment for a few week and nothing then on something else, and so on and so on.

I'm being tested for PCOS which bad skin is one of the symptom of having the condition, hair has been growing all over my face very very fine hair mind you! I was taking "dianette" which is for acne and act's like the pill which was fab and got rid of them in weeks, but trying for a baby for 16 months and spot have came back (may06), which I'm trying to fright not getting upset about, and dianette is not an option now!

I get up wash my face with "L'Oreal" "pure zone" deep purifying gel wash then wet face with lots of cold water as I cant use toner stings my face, I did use "L'Oreal" toner but had to stop! Then put on vit-e moisturising lotion/cream, then apply make up. I take off make-up with "boots" FF cleansing lotion with wet cotton wool, then wash face and apply doctors treatment for a few hours then wash off treatment, wet face with cold water and then apply "boots" "ACT" non-oily moisturiser, before bed! Were am I going wrong!?

Please any Advice?

I am left with a nice varicose vein from my pregnancy but gp said is not too much of a problem and said to keep an eye on it. Will see how I get on with Dianette and these side effects and if no improvement will ask about Yasmin. Dp thinks I should go on mini pill and just 'put up with' the spots but its not just a vanity issue, they are sooo flippin' sore! especially seem to get them round my chin and jawline which is weird. Tried Zineryt but made my skin really dry and flaky. Will persevere!

Lou, know what you mean about it not just being a vanity issue. Some of the spots I was getting on my back were so huge and painful that finding a comfortable sleeping position was difficult - and it's not easy getting comfortable when you're pregnant at the best of times! I also found that most of them were concentrated around where my bra straps sit so would get constant pain from the straps rubbing on the spots.

I have to say that Stiemycin has been a life-saver. It's not as good as the Pill but given that it's about the only thing I can use, it's worked a lot better than I was expecting. I just wish I'd been to my GP earlier as my shoulders in particular are quite scarred and may take some time to fade - I could perhaps have avoided this if I'd made an appointment sooner.

hi youngmum, definitely have a word with doc.I'm on Dianette at the moment and it seems to be controlling further outbreaks of spots, although still got a couple. I'm finding I've totally lost my appetite though and lost nearly half a stone in the last month so wondering whether this is because of Dianette. i thought you were supposed to put on weight! Booked an appointment with doc for after crimbo so will find out whats causing it. Would like to keep on it for a while though as it does seem to be helping. Forgotten what its like to have clear skin!

Just thought id post this for all those suffering like me i went to gp and he has given me lymecycline for my acne he has told me to give it 3 months and if it hasnt helped he is going to refer me to the hospital to see a skin specialist to see if thwey will give me roaccutne which is suppose to br excellent for clearing up acne there can be some serious side affects but thought if any one wants to look it up and maybe ask there gp about it it mite help!!

Hi. Thought I'd resurrect this thread and see how everyone is getting on and see if anyone has found any wonder cures. I have always suffered from bad skin with my face, back, tops of my arms and chest affected. Since I gave up breastfeeding in October, the spots on my back, shoulders etc have got even worse. My periods are also extrememly heavy and my cycle is now shorter than it used to be.

How sympathetic are doctors these days? It has been years since I've spoken to a doctor about my skin, but I'm so fed up now I need to do something.

I have just started going out socialising again and it is noticeable that I have practically no flesh showing, I feel humiliated and ashamed, I absolutely refuse to wear strappy tops and pretend it is because I think my arms are fat. I don't know what to do and I'm scared i'll be fobbed off, as I so often seem to be.

My skin has just got worse and worse, I have made an appt to see a GP next month. Not sureif it is the Mirena coil, hormones or just bad luck. Have started getting boils on my neck which is so hideous. I work face to face with the public all day and find it so humiliating

CurrantBun · 16/02/2007 15:42

Hunkeydorey, I know exactly how you feel. My skin was pretty bad within 5 months of stopping the Pill but as I was trying to conceive I couldn't do a lot. I was prescribed oral erythromycin which helped a bit, but as soon as I became pregnant I stopped that too. In the midst of last summer's heatwave I was walking around in t-shirts which covered my back, chest and upper arms as there was no way I could reveal anything in a strappy top. Having had my skin under control and clear for many years this was utterly demoralising - coupled with the pregnancy sickness I was experiencing at the time I felt really low.

Once the baby is born (due in just over a week!) I will probably breastfeed (or try to) for a few weeks then go back on Yasmin. My brother's getting married in August and I don't want to be restricted in what I can wear because of my skin. Unfortunately, although I've now been using topical erythromycin (Stiemycin) since about November, my back and shoulders are quite scarred and I'm not sure they'll fade in time for the wedding. I will just have to sit in the garden once the weather improves and try to get some sun to my skin. I'll also exfoliate like mad!
