Anyone who's had Plantar Fascitis??

The pain is from left to right rather than up my heel/foot. It feels tender, as if it's bruised. Mostly it is in one spot - thumb-print sized ouch really (between the heel pad and arch). I'm not finding this in any descriptions of PF and yet all I get when I google heel pain is stuff about PF. I've had it for a few weeks sometimes better sometimes worse and it's not stopping me running but I am curious as to what it is - and if I am potentially making it worse by continuing to run??

The obvious solution is to go to a physio but that's not possible til next week so in the meantime I thought I'd ask on here. Any thoughts much appreciated!

Could it be your trainers?

I would definitely get it looked at, in the meantime you could get your gait assessed at a good sports shop that specializes in running shoes and try icing your foot/feet for 15 mins a day to bring down any inflammation.

Try a pair of Scholl orthotics and see if that takes the pain away. I find the pink ones more comfortable than the blue. It'll take ages though as the ligament is slow to heal. it will be PF almost certainly.

Always wear shoes, even in the house. Good supportive ones.

Put a water bottle in the freezer. Once it's frozen, roll your sore foot over it. Elevate your feet when possible. (These two things help with the inflamation and swelling. You need to do them consistently, every night.)
Loose weight if you can.
It takes about 6 months to fully heal. But you'll feel better in three weeks if you take it easy and ice it.

Hi I had PF a few years ago it was agony I could not put my foot to the floor, I saw a joint specialist who signed me off work to rest for one week whilst I also took anti inflammatorys, I am a nurse so apparently this is related to my profession.

Sounds like you could do with seeing a physio, it does not sound like the PF I had, do you run a lot?

MoHintawnFein · 13/11/2014 12:19

I run 18 miles+ a week. The back of my heel (same foot) has been tender for years and I limp after sitting for a while. But it usually doesn't hurt when running. I have Sketchers light shoes plus two pairs of more conventional running shoes with good support - I vary which shoes I wear and there doesn't seem to be any difference. Wishing all aches and pains would just disappear doesn't seem to be working Grin
