have you had your eGFR calculated?

CHAPStheDoorForTrickOrTreat · 04/10/2006 13:48

yip, its 62, and my creatanine is 80. cant understand how they have come to that conclusion. I do have kidney problems.

eGFR is meant to take into account other factors such as weight/height etc and is a more dynamic measurement of renal function than just plasma creatinine

try this

CHAPStheDoorForTrickOrTreat · 04/10/2006 14:01

that would give me a result of 81 which I would be much happier about!
there must be someother indicator in my blood which is giving me a lower value..it is worrying. it is a border line value for severe renal imparement!
I feel totally fine! dont understand

Well the abnormal values from 0-60 are divided into 4 bands so you are on the borderline of the top band which is not classed as severe renal impairment

see here

I know, my worry is that renal function declines by 10% every 10 years after you turn 50 and there is not much room for deterioration before I hit critical function. do yo uthink the test could be inaccurately low. I was just off and nightshift and probably a bit dehydrated. HAve been on a bit of a crash diet so albumin could have been low. you think its worth repeating?

Always worth repeating and i think certainly if you were a bit dehydrated it would impact on the results.
Make you sure you are well hydrated this time
