We've had the post op assessment and the histology has told us that all of the infection was removed so that should be an end to any treatment i.e. follow up antibiotics not necessary.
DD came out of her op very well and the incision wound, although bigger than the consultant expected, is very neat and in not too visible (under the jaw line in her neck). Hurray she can have a proper bath and hair wash now after 2 weeks of trying to keep her steri strips dry, she was soooo excited.
I asked about the strain but it wasn't identified so we shall be forever wondering where the infection came from - I'm convinced it's from all the earth disturbance in the field next door (bloody Building companies sqishing in houses left right and centre).
Apparantly the Great Ormand Street consultant has said that there is an increase in this type of condition within the Home Counties. I'm just frustrated that no-one can pinpoint where it it came from.
Anyway, that's an end to dd's treatment and we can move on now
