So, what does a lump in your breast feel like?

I can't feel a lump exactly but for the last couple of days there's been an area about the size of a 50p piece that feels harder than the same spot on the other size. Doesn't give as much when pressed. Doesn't hurt as such but is slightly tender/uncomfortable.

Do you regularly check your breasts Private? If so is this a new change?

I had a lump checked on Thursday last week that turned out to be nothing on the mammogram and scan ( biopsy done but consultant said don't lose sleep over it ) it felt like a ridge, sort of like a step about 1cm and I could move it.

I waited 5 weeks but it was at the back of my mind.

I would say ring the GP and get it checked out, at least then you will have a second opinion.

It's probably nothing but worth getting checked out, breast cancer lumps don't all feel the same

If it is different to the other side it should be checked. They are really very nice and kind.

How are you 'feeling' it?

If you are prodding with your finger tips that isn't the right way to do it. I'm pretty sure you are supposed to feel with the hand flattened/ fingers straight and together in a kind of rolling motion over each quadrant of the breast, with gentle pressure.

I agree that if this is new you ought to have it checked out but it may be something as simple as you're pressing on bone underneath.

Thanks all

There's no lump as such, just an area that feels a bit harder than the rest when prodded or when flat fingers are rolled over it.

Yes, I think it is new. I'm not completely vigilant about checking but think I would have noticed this.

You need to go and have it checked asap but if it's that big the odds are it's not serious. Whereabouts in your cycle are you?

Mine feels like a hard pea and slightly painful, discovered it last Sunday and I'm going to get a mammogram and ultrasound and possible biopsy tomorrow. Feel sick.

It makes sense to go to the GP and to get it checked out.

Get it checked out by your doctor. You can also call or Google breastcancercare.uk. Their number is 0808 800 6000 & they really are brilliant.

Thanks -x-
