Pre School jabs - ?????????

ThomBat · 02/10/2006 13:54

A friend rang to say she'd taken her 4.5 yr old to the Gp for her pre-school jabs. I said 'oh I know nothing about this' and she said that the nurse had said something about letters not going out.

So, do any of you know know of any jabs that 4-5 yr olds should be having around the time they start school? One of the vaccines is a tetunus one.

Lotbags has had all her usual baby jabs and she had the MMR as single vaccines.

Rang the GP just now and the receptionist doesn't know what I'm talking about and there was noone else available to chat so thought I'd ask you lot.

Yes, they are standard boosters. One in each arm. I think one is DTP (Diptheria, Tetanus and Polio). We got a letter from the Health Authority about them.

Hi, the pre school boosters are one shot of diptheria, whooping cough and tetanus and an MMR booster. They are given between 3 and a half and 5 years old. Try speaking to the practice nurse she should know when on the schedule they give their pre school boosters.

We've just received letter with appt for pre-school boosters for dd. She is 3. Is that what you mean?

LaylaandSethsmum · 02/10/2006 13:57

Sorry yes the DTP one also has polio in it!

DD had hers this summer before starting school. She had two jabs - one in each arm. One is MMR; the other is the booster for the baby jabs.

No call or letter here. I knew they were due because of her red book, and knew we needed to speak to the paediatrician before DD had the MMR again. So called myself. Just make the appointment with the nurse for the jabs.

Sorry, the 'P' is for Pertussis (Whooping Cough).

Just had to produce "proof" of dd's vaccinations.

Hmmmm I've lost DD1's red book you see. Bloody annoying. Turned the house upside down and it's just not here.

She's had all teh vaccines she's supposed to have had though. Had the MMR as single vaccines aged 3 and she's booked in to have the Measles one again, in Nov and then she'll have the mumps and the rubella done again.

So it's just her baby jabs she needs having done again at the GP's by the sounds of it.

Wish I could find that red book.

Thanks all.
