mine is knackered. am having physio but it's still soooo painful. but how do you avoid lifting a (heavy) toddler when she won't go up the stairs or get out of the bath. back saving remedies please (even if they are only ibruprofen)

god knows i'm lifting a 4 1/2 yr old and it's killing me

I've buggered mine lifting my six year old (SN) DS. Apparently I have an immobile section. Had physio on it once but mostly I ignore it. No time to wory about it unless it's agonising.

I'd recommend osteopathy to anyone with a bad back. Bit expensive though that's why I don't have it.

my dh hurt his back lifting ds. He saw an osteopath who was (in his opinion) much, much better than the physio.

I wouldn't take pain killers unless it's absolutly necessary - to a certain extent you need to know your back hurts so you don't keep doing the stuff that hurts it. I have lots of back problems but do try not to take pain killers because if the pain is masked, I think my back's better. And it's not!

Osteopathy is fab but yes, it's expensive.

Can you try turning things into a challenge/game for your DD. eg if she won't go upstairs, will she be chased or race you up?

Mine is knackered too - I am having twice weekly physio to sort out an irritated sciatic nerve but all the good is undone when I haul 2.3 yr old dd in and out of the car.

Tis a bugger and a pita but I try and ignore it as much as I can. I don't take painkillers unless it is interrupting my sleep, but I suppose in a way I'm lucky as my problem causes mostly pins and needles with only a slight amount of pain.
