DD has a temp of almost 102 atm. she's very sniffly and snotty!
We've given her calpol and are trying to get the temp down atm, there's not much change yet.
Should we be considering a Dr? We're actually in Dublin atm staying with dd's dad and our Dr is obviously at home in the UK and I have no idea how to access one here!

How old is she?

Can you give her nurofen too?

airy · 01/10/2006 21:53

Sorry meant to say she's 5. All I've got is calpol. and it took bloody ages to find anywhere open to get that! lol So no nurofen.
I have cool flannels on her and she's managing to drink water although not as much as I'd like her to.
She did vomit earlier on today but hasn't at all this evening which is something to be thankful for I suppose!
I'm just worried I thinnk because she's never had such a high temp before and I don't know what I should do.

How long ago did you give her the calpol, airy?

airy · 01/10/2006 22:06

Sorry been seeing to dd. she had calpol just about an hour ago now. She's just fallen asleep and her temp hasn't come down at all.
Am sponging her down now. I think I'm just going to give her another half an hourish and if it's still the same will try and find a Dr for her.

Thanks everyone.

I'd do the same...if her temp hasn't come down, definitely call a doctor. At the very least he/she should be able to find/get you some ibuprofen.

Good luck airy, I really hope dd is better soon, let us know. xx

hunkermunker · 01/10/2006 22:40

Do you know whether there's an all-night pharmacy nearby?

Expect her temp to rise/stay the same till after midnight, btw - circadian rhythm usually cools us down in the wee small hours. I always found DS1 was hottest between 11pm and 2am.

Hope she feels better in the morning. But if she still seems ill/still has a high temp make sure you see a doctor.

Thanks for the help all
DD is fine now, not herself really but temp is almost normal. Temp started coming down slowly before we called Dr so we gave her a bit longer and it carried on falling so we left her.
We were supposed to be on a plane at 7 this morning to come back home which we hadn't a hope in hell of making, so we missed our flight and are still in Dublin! hopefully getting home tommorow though and I will take her into docs just to get her checked over.

Thanks again
x
