4 week double ear infection. Can ENT help?

I'm on my third course of antibiotics( started Friday) and my ears still hurt. I have a pituitary condition which means I have to take steroids as a replacement , which also means I have a compromised immune system.
So, is there any point seeing ENT? What can they even do? I just want to get better. Any help anyone?

Are you also taking Ibuprofen?
Decongestants?
Steam and menthol inhalations?

I am not sure what else ENT can do, but if you are worried get checked out, even just to be told that you are not missing anything and that you are doing everything you can do.

It's worth seeing ENT. I don't know what type of ear infection you've got but I had a spell of bad outer ear infections and I needed the gunk sucking out in order for the drops to work to clear the infection. I once had a wick put in for a week for a bad infection too. You have nothing to lose by seeing them.

I've suffered for years with chronic ear infections as i have lots of scar tissue in my ear. My current infection i've had since february. I usually have to have them for 3 months before GP will refer me back to ENT. When i go they microsuction out the infection and then give me a course of Sofradex. It usually works a treat, this is the first time it hasn't!
After 3 lots of antibiotics you should be eligible for a swab to be taken. It might be worth asking the GP for a course of drops anyway if it's an outer ear infection but there is no harm in asking for an ENT referral.

Thank you all. It's middle ear infections , but was outer ear too at one point and I had the spray with steroid in for that. ( finished it last week)
So maybe I should chase the ENT referral. How soon should that be?

Ask for a swab first just to make sure they are treating with the right antibiotic. It usually takes 4-6 weeks from referral to appointment but that will depend where you live. They might be reluctant to refer as it costs them money that's why my GP prats about with antibiotics for 3 months first!

ENT where I live (poor Northern city) have emergency appointments. On several occassions I've seen them within a couple of days of my GP referring me. I'd push for a referral if I were you.
