Does a 3mm hard lump under your areola require a visit to the doctors?

I hate the doctors and think it's nothing but DP keeps nagging. It feels hard a very small stone, doesn't hurt. Been there about 6 weeks.

Probably nothing to worry about as small cysts in the breast occur frequently and naturally go away

However better to be safe than sorry and being there for 6 weeks is quite a time - yes, get it checked out

You could very much regret it if you didn't

misshoohaa · 17/10/2014 21:29

Simple. Yes, get in checked.

Holdthepage · 17/10/2014 21:35

Of course it requires a visit to the doctors.

Yes is the simple answer. Lots of lumps are something simple but your DH is right to nag. You need to know that it is something simple before you decide to ignore.

Really....? But it's very small I thought for it to be a worry it had to be a decent size. I'm only 30 but there is a bit of BC in my family on both sides. Reaaallllyyyy hate the doctors.

If you don't deal with it now you may find yourself needing to spend more time at the doctors than you'd like.
Go and get it checked.

MysticMugBug · 17/10/2014 21:43

the fact that it has the hardness of a stone makes it more of a likely to be a BC.
My mum is a cancer nurse, so I've picked up some knowledge.
You would not be wasting anybody's time by going (that's what I worry about, anyway), so go for reassurance if anything Smile

I had one there too, very small, smaller than a pea. I ignored it thinking it was nothing, but then much later I discovered another one, larger, and I was terrified.

I went to GP and they were a bit shocked that I had not gone much earlier - she said there was a small chance it was cancerous. I was referred under 2ww. I went to Royal Marsden and it really put everything into perspective. In the event it was nothing, but really it is not worth taking a chance. I hate going to the GPs - she even said 'we never see you', but she could not have been nicer and the Marsden were totally outstanding.

Make that appointment.

I found a pea sized lump and went to the doctor. It was seen a week later with immediate results (after the consultant drawing sharpie circles over both boobs when finding several other lumps). It was nothing (I have lumpy boobs!) but certainly worth checking out. Peace of mind is key her, so go Smile

Look at it this way- if only 'big' lumps were possibly cancerous, why would women have mammograms? X-rays pick up lumps that are too small or too deep to be felt. But they can still be cancerous even if small.

ANY change- lump, discharge, thickening, itching- should be checked out.

Make an appt for Monday.
