I have had constant nausea and abdo pain for weeks. My appetite has almost completely gone and it's getting me down. I am absolutely not pregnant! I've gone to the drs and have been prescribed pantoprazole but I need help with the nausea, please! Confused

Go hack to the doctor for a different medicine.

There you go, my most excellent advice Smile

Hope you feel better soon

TongueBiter · 16/10/2014 07:39

Motillium 10 is good for nausea. Available over the counter. But yes, you should go back to docs if your symptoms aren't responding to what he gave you.

No other symptoms apart from nausea?

krazipan · 16/10/2014 07:43

I have an appt in 10 days. I have awful heartburn and r sided abdo pain. It's the nausea that is getting to me though. I can't eat. Thanks for the replies, I'll get some motilium

Could it be your gallbladder?

GERD?

Also gastritis can make you nauseous.....

Glad you've got an appointment. Morning sickness when you're pregnant is bad enough so I know how nausea can affect you.

FuckyNell · 16/10/2014 17:01

You can't get motillium 10 over the counter anymore, only on prescription

Vanillepudding · 16/10/2014 17:02

Have you tried cutting out all dairy for a while?

Worth a try, imo. Substitute with rice or almond milk, avoid soya.

I was so nauseous from dairy I had pregnancy tests because it was so similar.
Sometimes I have a milky coffee (miss them ) and pay for it every time, feeling sick.

molesbreath · 16/10/2014 17:03

Gall bladder ?

How old are you ? I think they say something along the lines of fair, fat, fertile and forty - tick any 2 of these boxes and its a fair chance.

Do you think you might be looking a bit yellow

krazipan · 16/10/2014 17:47

I'm fertile but only 32 and a size 10! The dr did mention gallstones but I always thought the pain was on the other side. I'm barely eating because of the nausea and pain. Confused

OP posts:
krazipan · 16/10/2014 17:49

I don't think I'm looking yellow mole Grin. I will try cutting out dairy, the thought of eating anything dairy/fatty is horrible at the min so I may as well take advantage of that!

so its reflux? My daughter has this, and had to cut down on fats once she was on the tablets. in the case of the nausea how about trying sea bands

dontknowwhat2callmyself · 17/10/2014 22:10

I second what Vanille said about dairy - similar thing happened to me a few years back constant nausea and bloated stomach so doc wanted to do pregnancy test. Off my own back through trial and error I eliminated dairy for about three months and it seemed to solve the problem.

krazipan · 18/10/2014 19:59

I will definitely trial cutting out dairy. It's not going to be easy though Confused

I immediately thought gall bladder. With hindsight, I had the same symptoms for 4 months before being diagnosed. I also do not fit the typical profile.

JubJubBirds · 19/10/2014 18:52

Is it an appointment with a GP or a consultant? If it's a GP I would definitely request a referral if it were me. I hope you feel better soon! Thanks

krazipan · 20/10/2014 20:46

I'm not so sure it is reflux. The 40mg of pantoprazole twice a day is doing nothing Confused. Thanks jubjub. It's the gp. She is great so hopefully il get sorted. I'm having bloods done.

Krazipan - I'm absolutely in the same boat. Much sympathy. Thought I had a tummy bug 4 weeks ago, but all symptoms remain: diarrhea, waves of nausea, acid indigestion, stomach cramps, hunger pains even when I've eaten, pain that comes and goes behind right shoulder. Had bloods and sample taken = nothing abnormal. Am 5'8 and have dropped almost a stone to 9 st 4 in a month. Feel completely hollow and pathetic.

I had a really bad episode of anxiety 3 years ago which all manifested as physical health symptoms, so conscious this could be of my own making. But boy I feel rough. Could it be stress/anxiety related in your case?

krazipan · 22/10/2014 07:38

I do have a lot of stress with a work issue mummypirate so you could be on to something there. I'm counting down to Friday when I break up for a week! Hopefully my symptoms will ease when I don't have to go into work. I'm just so worn out with feeling this way. What has the dr suggested for you mummypirate? I hope you feel better soon ??

This sounds like like something I get when I am crippled with stress and anxiety.

And then, eating just one egg can make it ten times worse... I end up not eating during the day if I have to go 'in' to work (as opposed to working from home).

krazipan · 22/10/2014 07:52

I'm at a loss as what to do. Confused Reading the past few posts makes me think it is stress related but that's even harder to solve!

OP posts:
LineRunner · 22/10/2014 08:44

You just need a plan.

Keep engaging with your GP to rule out any physical causes, including asking for a referral if necessary.

Become more aware of stressors and anxiety-causing tasks. How do they correlate with what/when you eat and drink?

I find a half day in bed with vegetable soup and an avocado salad is as good as a holiday! Oh, and I gave up the part of my career where I was overloaded with marking.... Less money, but much better mental health now. Smile Sorry, all that might be completely useless and irrelevant in your case.

OldRoan · 22/10/2014 08:51

I get this with stress. Sometimes it escalates to an IBS flare up, sometimes it is a month or so of nausea.

My GP prescribed mebeverine to help with IBS, but I found that helped reduce the nausea as well.

When I get it, I just try to nibble on things as and when I can. Especially fruit. It's a bit of a never ending circle; you feel unwell so don't eat, but then at a point where you might feel well again you still feel poorly from not eating (does that make sense?)

krazipan · 22/10/2014 09:58

It is a vicious circle. I'm trying to nibble on dry crackers and eat small regular meals. My gp is ringing me again on Monday so will have a chat then. This morning I've also come out in a itchy, red, blistery rash! My body seems to be giving up

OP posts:
OldRoan · 22/10/2014 10:46

It sounds like your body is trying to force you into taking a break.

sunshineandshowers · 22/10/2014 11:10

I had this when I had an infection in my body. I have metal in my back and the metal had become infected. Do you have any metal? Or any other health issues?

krazipan · 22/10/2014 11:20

I don't have any metal. I think I just need a rest from everyday lifeGrin
