Severe stomach cramps. How can I help?

DH has had slight stomach since Saturday morning ( he had a cheapish pizza Friday night which we think caused it). Has had diarhoea intermittantly aswell. Last night cramps seemed to ramp up a notch and now he's on lots of pain and struggling to go to work normally I'd advise him to stay home and take it easy but s recent situation at work not involving him means that today it's not an option. Is there any over the counter medication he can take to help relieve some of the pain? If it gets any worse I think we will have to head to a walk in clinic

He could try buscopan, it helps to ease cramping.

Thank you anything is worth a try at the moment he's normally the one holding it together and getting on with things. Really hard to see him in so much pain

Try peppermint tea and some painkillers and see how he goes.

If he's in a lot of pain though , it sounds like a stomach bug and he'd probably be better off in bed. Was there meat on the pizza?

Yes it had tandoori chicken and spicy sausage it's the only thing hes eaten different to me which is what makes me think it's that but then I wouldn't expect it to get worse last night the opposite in fact x

It can definitely get worse over the course of a few days so it's highly likely to be that. Badly stored chicken and sausage could definitely upset his stomach like this

What would be the best pain killer to give him?

Angelto5 · 13/10/2014 13:28

Kaolin & morphine?

DueInFebruary · 13/10/2014 13:31

Do you not need a prescription for that?

Angelto5 · 13/10/2014 13:34

You can buy it over the counter I think.
I just checked the nhs website(sorry don't know how to do a link) & there's a few reasons why not suitable but my dm says it helps her when she has stomach cramps related to food.

As I said earlier anything is worth a try at the moment.

Did they manage to find out what caused it?

StillinShockAhhhhhhh · 15/10/2014 20:03

He's got to go to our gp tommorow to be referred for more tests to find out the exact cause. Just sent him up to bed to try and catch up on some sleep dosed up on paracetamol hopefully find out more after tests x
