Would you see a doctor about a bleeding tonsil?

Or would you wait and see if it heals on its own? Only just realised what's happening tonight but suspect it's been like this a few days now. I've had a hacking cough and congestion, but muddled on as you do. It's quite painful and I've been taking paracetamol.

I've never noticed a tonsil bleeding before though, so wondered if it's something I should be worried about?

See how it goes. Poor you :( have you white spots on your tonsils

If you have a hacking cough you've probably been going at it too hard and it's done something to your tonsil. I'm told that because the blood supply in your mouth/face is so good cuts and other minor injuries sort themselves out pretty quickly in this region. Obviously if symptoms persist visit the doctor, but I'd be surprised if it's still bleeding and sore in a day or two. Unless of course you're still coughing- this is what you should be visiting the doctor for!

Thank you for the replies Smile no white spots thankfully, but from what I've read online it's such a delicate area that it gets infected easily. The cough is awful, and still going, but it's always like this. Actually causing me chest pain too this time, so might see a doctor about both of those things. Oh crap Sad
