Can you get mastitis when you aren't and haven't breast fed for over 7 years?

And if so what can or should I do about it?
Right boob is v v v sore and hot and has a solid lump in it near my nipple lump is about walnut size so not missable
Dh has used his temperature laser on my boobs and right one is 5 degrees hotter than left one

My general temp is usually 36.7/8 and has been 38 for the last week whilst boob has hurt.

Will it go away or have I given it long enough?

What do you reckon? Thank you in anticipation!!

I hope you have got to see a doctor by now, but wanted to say I have had mastitis twice and both times I was not BF.

Thanks. Got an appointment with gp at 9 tomorrow morning. It was either that or 12.10 tonight. So going tomorrow. Dr said it sounds like an abscess but will check in the morning.
Thanks again x

I wouldn't wait tbh. I'd go to a walk in centre today and get it checked out.

Sorry have just seen you're going tomorrow at 9am.

Good luck.

Hi all, GP was brilliant.
in at 8.55 she could see the hot red patch immediately and with a little feeling about is confident that antibiotics will clear it and that it is mastitis.

I know there are issues with some parts of the NHS but I could honestly not have asked for more.
Thanks for all your support last night.
