Recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia I had to give up my gym membership in summer due to being into much pain after each session.
My consultant recommend I try a light exercise can anyone recommend anything that's helped them at all.

My fibromyalgia appears quite 'mild' but I have other more severe physical problems. I like the gym (slow stroll on the treadmill) but otherwise, swimming is known to be fantastic. Tai chi is meant to be very good too.

I use to struggle with the treadmill due to a badly broken ankle that's not fully healed 18 months ago.

Love swimming but am put off by the fact that when I'm well in myself I spend 5 nights a week sat pool side watching DD train so I see a lot of water.

I'll look into to the Thai chai thank you

Swimming is supposed to be good (but I cant swim so don't try it) I do walking, sometimes just lots of small walks, but try and do it at least 3 times a day, even if I am very sore I still do it

Or try hula hooping, I do that too

What about pilates? The class I attend is mostly floor based and aimed at strengthening core muscles that can get weak with illness. I have CFS rather than FMS but I am usually somewhat achy after a class. I attend a mixed ability class - so the instructor splits things into levels. Some days I do mostly the easier levels - others I can work at a more intensive level.

I've recently been diagnosed too. I have to walk a lot because I have dogs. I'm not sure whether this helps or not tbh, but it's a necessity as the dogs need a walk!

Swimming, yoga and pilates were recommended by my physio. Haven't done any of them yet as I'm in too much pain.
