Any suggestions please? Earlier in the year dd2 complained of her head hurting all the time. Got her referred to consultant at hospital but by the time she saw him they had more or less stopped!! Typical! He couldn't really offer any explanation, suggested it might be something like rhinitis and just gave her mild antihistamine in case it recurs. Anyhow, she has spent all this week complaining continuously about her head, upset at school not eating properly and generally not herself. Had very slight temp the other morning so kept her off. Question is : has she got something (can they get sinus infections? she says its worse when she puts her head down) or is it a recurrence of previous head pain (in which case not convinced anyone will do anything anyway ). Can't stand to see her suffering but don't know what to do next? Sorry this is long!

No advice or suggestions I'm afraid: just posting sympathy - poor thing and poor you. Hope someone can say something more helpful here.

(ps, don't be cross with me, but I presume she's not dehydrated?)

Gosh wouldn't be cross with any suggestions cassoulet!! Had thought of the dehydration route but don't think so, at school maybe but not at home keep pouring liquid down her!!

Have you tried getting her eyes tested? My ds did this when he was 4 and got so frusrated turned out he had a lazy eye and has been wearing glasses ever since. Hes 12 now.

Polgara2 · 28/09/2006 22:46

Yes did that first time round, her eyes are fine apparently! Thank goodness!

Oh right.. Are any of your family migrane sufferers? Might be worth keeping an eye on what she eats. My MUM and sister and I are and we avoid cheese, chocolate and bananas oh and red wine but I dont think that would apply. My ds who is 11 suffers too but he gets stomach migranes and these are caused by stress. Might be worth an ask at your gp especialy if she vomits with the headaches.

Polgara2 · 28/09/2006 22:58

She doesn't vomit but she does complain of tummy ache a lot (not necessarily at same time as headaches). Our GP had suggested migraines but consultant said not after questioning us about symptoms. I just feel so frustrated - if I take her back to GP they make me feel like a paranoid mother but can't just watch her suffer .

There is a MAJOR headachey bug going around, me, dd, dh, our nanny and a lot of people I know have had it. There were posts about it today. DD was awake screaming a lot of Sun night that she had a headache (and had been complaining a lot before) It could be this

CountessDracula · 28/09/2006 22:59

she was also complaining of tummy ache and dh and I have had that too

Polgara2 · 28/09/2006 23:01

Oh CD - how long does it last?

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 28/09/2006 23:01

Polgara2 · 28/09/2006 23:03

Hmmm well that takes us til tomorrow - did you find anything to relieve headaches? DD2 doesn't seem to think any of the pain relief I give her works.
