Well, or at least guide me to information/ideas that I can put to my GP.

Since my e-cs 3.5 years ago I've not been myself. I've had PND, PTSD and now PMT quite severely. Two months ago I went to my GP to ask to be put on the pill to see if balancing my hormones would help with PMT, it really has, but I've lost 3 whole days in two months due to intense headaches and migraines. I cannot live like this, yesterday I had to go to bed at 5 pm and didn't get up until 8 am this morning, had a lot of work to do which now don't know when I will be able to catch up.
The GP wanted to put me on the mini pill, but I was scared of its effects on mental health, but I might have been wrong. My questions really are:

Is there anything 'natural' I can do to balance my oestrogen levels? (I'm thinking soya, for example, what is the issue with it and hormones??)

I know the mini pill isn't so bad regarding headaches, but what if any is it relation with mental health?

I desperately need to not go back to the pmt from before the pill, but can't live with this headaches.

My GP didn't seem that comfortable with his knowledge of any of this, so I just want to have things to suggest and put to him.

Any ideas?Thanks

Agnus castus for PMT. The thing is, I find you have to take it for 2/3 months for the effects to show. I can't be 100% sure that it helped my terrible PMT (as PMT is so unpredictable anyway), but am pretty sure that that's what cut it down from solid 12-day bouts to a couple of days at either end of the luteal phase.

If you're finding that your PMT is very severe, there is the option of going on ADs (SSRIs, such as Prozac or Sertraline). I did go on Sertraline briefly, and the effect was amazing- as if the PMT just disappeared within a couple of hours!- BUT, then the Sertraline side effects started- jitteriness and insomnia, and I decided it wasn't worth it. It may well be worth researching to see if it's right for you though. Good luck!

Thank you, will deffo newly look into Agnus castus, had never heard of it!

I think after reading that perhaps I need to try a combined pill with a less strogent more progesterone content, will make appointment with GP soon.

I have been on citalopram for PND and having come off it I wouldn't want to go back to it, although it helped enormously at the time it certainly made me a bit of a vegetable Hmm
