My ds has just turned 3 and his eating is driving me nuts! He is ALWAYS hungry!
So far today he has eaten:
Two rounds of toast with jam
An apple
2 bananas
2 handfuls of grapes
Half a bowl of dry sugar puffs
An Ice pop (helped himself to that one)
2 biscuits
and has now just announced he is hungry!!
I am trying very hard to give him fruit or similar snacks...but he just won't stop!

I'll swap you
.. I also have a DS who has just turned 3 and suddenley everything is "horrible" "disgusting" "don't like that one". Funny really as these are foods he has eaten and enjoyed since he was weaned!
Do you think your DS is due a growth spurt?

Lucybug · 28/09/2006 11:17

p.s he also eats the majority of meals...unless it is something he doesn't like. Will he get overweight or is this normal??

Sounds normal to me, and what you're giving him is a good mix. I guess you can only tell by looking at him if he's getting a little too much food. I doubt it though, they are so active at this age nothing has time to settle as fat.
My DS's feet are always the start of his growth spurts, don't ask me how / why, but just after his new shoes, he grows taller!
p.s you could make sure that your DS is not thirsty, asking for food for means to quench his thirst.

Lucybug... my 3 year old is exactly the same! He eats everything and anything you give him and is always hungry. Even whilst he had his last mouthful of weetabix this morning he spluttered that he waould like some more!!
I don't mind as he is sooooo energetic during the day and sleeps for 12 hours solid at night.
This morning he has already consumed:
3 weetabix with mashed banana
an apple
a slice of toast with jam
a bag of iced gems
2 slices of ham
and now he's hinting at pancakes!!!

I'd rather him be like this though than a fussy little creature!

Thanks mums... he has just had new shoes so you are probably right. Will keep him topped up with drinks too.

i know Lucybug!! The thing is, he doesn't have a spare oz of flesh on him.
This is the child who pinches vegetables off my plate... with broccoli and cauliflower being his favourite.... strange little boy!

Lucybug · 28/09/2006 11:42

Mine is a skinny ribs too...I just worry that at this rate he won't be for long!
He eats everything really, can eat a whole plate of sweetcorn and peas just on their own!
He is a good sleeper too, sleeps a good 12 hours most nights.
Maybe that is just how some children are then!
I have only really heard mums moan about fussy eaters, not the other way round.
Maybe I had better stop worrying

I think we're very lucky Lucybug

I wouldn't worry as long as he's having mostly healthy stuff. Dh reckons kids can't get overweight unless they eat too much junk/sugar as their metabolism is so fast they burn it off very quickly.
