Dull burning in my pelvis. Brown discharge, pretty much constantly. Worried

Hi

So I've always had issues in that department. Had a cervical cyst removed 3 years ago and I've always been back and forth to the doctors with unexplained, mid cycle bleeding. This seems different though. My bladder feels full most of the time, I have a burning pain a lot of the time, but not when I actually go to the toilet. Also, there's pretty much always brownish discharge. I maybe have 3 or 4 days in the month with nothing.

I have an appointment tomorrow at the doctors, but I'm so scared. They won't give me a smear, cos I'm not due for another 2 months

Anybody else had this?

Thanks

Maybe you need antibiotics for an infection? You're doing the right thing going to GP, don't leave without answers or even a referral if you're worried. Hope it all goes ok Flowers

Thank you

I know nobody on here can tell me if everything is ok, but sometimes it's good to hear from other woman who can maybe relate.

I had an internal examination about a year ago and that came back fine. I really had to push for this appointment. I told them my symptoms over the phone and the first doctor told me to just keep a cycle diary for a couple of months and then I can have a smear at the same time as discussing everything else. I spoke to another doctor and they told me I needed to be seen asap.

Good for you! Do not be fobbed off....don't be leaving your appointment tomorrow without your worries addressed or a referral to an expert. Remember the GP is the gateway to further treatment if it's needed, you need to get them to open the gate.
Sorry for the metaphors, bit cheesy, Blush

I think I was assuming that after my operation, I would be closely monitored. Maybe I'm not considered high risk because I didn't have an abnormal smear. I have started to wonder if maybe it's not gynecological and that maybe it's to do with my bladder.

Yes .. This is sort of similar to me. Bleeding / ongoing low level pain , low down. A dragging sensation , feeling like I need a wee all the time, invisible blood detectable in all my urine samples. I was absolutely sure it was something awful.

I've had full bloods - twice. I've had two ultrasounds. I've had internals. And last week I had a cystoscopy which was fast tracked as I'm over 40 - just. I was absolutely terrified.

The results? Ovaries are fine. Womb is fine ( maybe a very small fibroid but nothing at all really ). Bloods are all normal. Bladder is normal. Nothing is inflamed.

I'll have a CT scan to rule out kidney stones but they think I just fall into the 25% of people who have these symptoms and there is no concerning reason for it.

I'd recommend a really decent probiotic like culturelle, a low sugar diet and plenty of clear fluids. A few tweaks in lifestyle never hurt do they?

Are you on the pill?
I had the same symptoms and the full investigation detailed above. Turned out I had BV, which is very common and the constant bleeding was attributed to cerazette.

oreocookiecake · 02/10/2014 19:30

sage I had an internal exam about 8 or9 months ago and that seemed fine. I had an ovary scan a few years back and that was normal. I had a full blood count cos of other issues recently and they came back normal. I had an abdominal scan and apart from a polyp on my gallbladder, that was normal. With that scan though, I'm not sure how much they can see. 25%? Confused does that mean that the other 75% are for concerning reasons? I'm glad you're ok. Must have been a massive relief

Vic, no not on the pill. I've had BV before and the symptoms were different. Do you know if you can have different kinds of BVs?

I think what they're saying is that in 25% of people there is just no real concerning reason. Other reasons will vary all the way from fibroids to cysts to the more serious things, if you see what I mean

Sometimes there is just no real reason. Which is rather weird because I've had symptoms of 'something '

vichill · 02/10/2014 20:22

I think bv can hang around unnoticed for years (mine never smelled nasty or caused discharge) and can eventually lead to some bleeding and mild/moderate pain even pre pid.
I remember that during the process to find out what caused mine, my gp said for some women unexplained bleeding is just a thing.

oreocookiecake · 02/10/2014 20:27

Yeah, I see what you mean. My partner really believes its an ovarian cysts. Obviously been doing lots of Googling herself.

I'm just so scared, but I guess that's understandable.
