Endometriosis

Little background information, I've had doctors appointments for pcos and was referred for a scan where the lady said my right ovary looks polycystic. She sent me for a blood test but everything came back normal. I have period like (or worse) pains practically every day, it's worse in the mornings but definitely still there through the day. I have really heavy periods although they can be unpredictable and irregular. I've wrote a few posts on here and a lot of you have told me it sounds like endometriosis. I have a doctors appointment today as I can't live in constant pain. It's horrible! It's got to the stage where sometimes I can't even move, let alone drive etc. I was just wondering, at my appointment should I mention that endometriosis could be a possibility or should I just tell him my symptoms and let him come to the conclusion alone? And if he thinks it is, is the next step laparoscopy? If so how long will I have to wait until that actually happens? Any information or advice would be massively appreciated as my appointment is in 2 hours and I need reassurance!!

I would ask the GP for a referral to a gynaecologist and do not take not for an answer. You could ask this GP about endometriosis but not all GPs are at all up to speed when it comes to this particular problem. DO not let yourself still be dismissed; there is a cause and it is certainly in your interests to determine what it is.

In the meantime I would keep a daily pain and symptom diary if you do not already do so as this would give the gynae clues.

(Apart from pain endometriosis can also cause heavy bleeding to arise).

The doctor was so good, really listened and seemed to care. We practically said everything at the same time and both agreed. He's referring me to a gynaecologist and thinks it's in my best interest to have laparoscopy. I should hear back in a week
