Child being winded?

Has anyone had experienced of a child being winded? DD aged 8 yrs was sitting on the edge of our bed & leant back & fell off. She landed on her back hard & had trouble breathing for a few mins. She's been coughing today & says her throat & back hurts. I've given her Ventolin as she could be coming down with a cold & it's triggering her asthma. Is this normal with winding?

I think you should get her checked out, just to be on the safe side. It may have nothing to do with the winding and just be a bit of a cold as you say, but any ongoing pain interfering with breathing in a child, I'd get advice on.

Thanks we have a health direct number ( am not in the UK). It's very good as we didn't know she had asthma when she was 5 yrs old & was having an attack. They were very thorough & advised us to take her to emergency. She seems better after her puffer but I'll ring for advice. Thanks again.

It's possible she cracked a rib if she fell hard. That would be painful, and could interfere with breathing. Definitely get her checked out.

I think get her checked out, especially with a history of asthma. Aged 9 I had a fall from a horse that left me very winded and struggling to breath. 5 minutes later I was back on the horse and there were no further issues. I think if she still does not feel right it's worth investigating.
